Ms. Lead: We love these lights for what they offer but DANG they are hard to turn on. And I wish the timer function could be extended or maybe turned off. She usually turns them on right away and 30 mins is like world record timing if a parent can achieve toddler sleep by then. But it’s become a staple in our house so when the first one started spookily going off and on we had to get a new one. The new one sucks just as bad! You have to click it like 6 times to get it on.

inthedesert: I have bought this exact GE branded item from two other retailers but could no longer find it in a local store so I ordered here. It's a very simple mechanical thing..you just put in the batteries, push down on the dome top and the light should stay lit and turn off on a 30 min timer. This one oddly would start out with a solid light and at some point it would begin a slow blinking function and also never turned off. The whole reason I bought it was for the timed shut off and the blinking is very disturbing when trying to sleep. I gave 2 stars because it did work , just not the way it was described. I don't know if this was just a manufacturing anomaly or what but back it went.

7anya7anya: I love this thing! I'm sure I could find a more fancy nightlight but this is a really great choice and not very expensive.
You tap it on and it stays on for a decent amount of time (30 minutes?). It projects stars and a crescent moon up on your ceiling in a blue-ish light that looks similar to the color of a UV light. It's very wonderful because it's a nice soft color but is comforting compared to a pitch-black room. It's creates a very peaceful mood. I like that I can turn it on and just fall asleep and it will be off when I wake up. Or it will tell me exactly how long I've been trying to fall asleep, if it turns off while I'm still awake, haha.
I got it 9 months ago and haven't had to replace the batteries yet really.
It feels a bit cheap in regards to... you have to tap the purple part all the way down (ca-chunk..), which is not hard you just have to be close to the thing to turn it on easily. Sometimes you have to double-tap it (First time to set the timer or something? Don't know). The stars and moon are not very crisp, kind of fuzzy-edged and not super distinct (not blobs, just not crisp shapes), unless you have it pretty high up. But they still look nice.

The only downside is the quality of the switch inside. I have to press it at least ten times to get it to switch on, which is super annoying especially as I have it on the ceiling. I also suspect that it doesn't stay on for the full 30 minutes, though I haven't timed it.
I'll probably buy another one at some point and hope it works better than the one I have now because there aren't a lot of options for ceiling-mounted lights of this type. I think it's a case of good design but poor quality control.
