Too high for a pole saw. Too dangerous for a ladder unless competing for Darwin Award. I stumbled on a You Tube video on using this product and got one to try it out. Overall it works for those high trim jobs. I came up with some suggestions on how to use it. The product does not come with instructions. One - Use a light weight cord and weight to get into the tree first. You can get a more accurate position on the saw then hoist up the working cord. Two - apply some chain bar oil to the chain saw and keep it in a zip lock bag with oil - it will make sawing a whole lot easier. Three - be careful at the end of the cut as the chain has to make a radical bend and it has a tendency to bind up. A good chance you will get the saw stuck in the tree. Keep cutting at angle keeping ropes wide apart. Use a helper to keep the chain apart and use chain bar oil. Four - DO NOT try and cut the limb if it is wet or moist. The saw will absolutely bind up and you will have to climb up to get it back or loose it. Hope this help you out.

CJ: Worked for us to cut 3 branches down.
One at 25ft with a 5"-6" caliper
One at 28ft with a 5"-6" caliper
One at 35ft with a 7"-8" caliper
I purchased paracord (50ft) 2 packs-one for each side of the blade to use since I was going so high
plus it allowed me to have me on one side and my 15 year old on the other side and be well away to the side while sawing instead of directly under the branch. We also used survey string attached to an arrow type device ( it was a 4ft piece of plex that I had from a previous project) to shoot the string up and over the highest branch where I wanted it. Then just attached the paracord and blade end and pulled it back up and over and already had the paracord attached to the other end of the blade. Otherwise the small bag and rope provided worked fine for the lower branches. I filled the bag with a few stones. I used the survey string for that as well and wore a glove to get a good grip and an easier throw.
I save almost $400 dollars using this tool! It took some work and some inginuity and some rtrial and error, but well worth it. Point of caution. Only use this when well lit and you have a clearpath of escape. The first time I used...

Paul Neat: I was very skeptical as I have heard that these types of chains get stuck often. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly I was able to cut through some big limbs. Some were 8" - 10" and it was quick. The hardest part was getting the rock sack over the limb as some of the ones I was cutting were 35 high. Once I was able to get a rope over the limb, cutting was quick and easy with two people spread out. It would have been more difficult with limbs this size if I was working alone.
The ropes provided with the kit are very short. Too short to be of any practical use. I had my own, 50' ropes which I tied to the carabiners connected to the chain. The chain did not get stuck once with 6 limbs cut. I would highly recommend this product.

Patrick Hibbard: Well it comes complete with everything you need, it's well made, works well and I did not have any problems with binding some have had with other versions of this method thanks to the rounded links. So a positive rating overall but not happy with the included 'S' links though. They are too small/weak imho and a weak point ... They will work but don't know how long they will last. I switched them for a pair of small locking carabeaners I had on hand so problem solved.
Are they worth the price? Yup, no question _ They get the job done and are one hell of a lot cheaper than renting a cherry picker or calling a tree guy.

A. J.: The blade is okay quality. The ropes could be longer. The handles feel like a kids toy.
