Takes some strength but once in place cut through 2 inch pieces.

Davenport CrockerDavenport Crocker: Be careful with big branches, gravity is real! Spread apart so the cutting isn’t too tight a radius. Got this yesterday, needed to remove some large, high branches extending over our house from a dead tree. Agree 100% with other reviewers this is a 2 person job, you need to be sure the angle is right and not to limiting. Couple other hacks not mentioned anywhere in other comments, the handles for pulling are useless and even with gloves the string starts hurting your hand almost immediately, grab a piece of branch or wood, wrap the string around and use like a handle, no pain, works perfectly (see pictures). Also, once you start cutting if you have to adjust or say comes out of groove it’s hard to get it pulled up and back in place because the knots at the end of the chain get stuck in the slot, our fix was a sacrificial tennis ball (see picture) cut and taped at one end, it helps when you pull the saw back into place as the line and knots don’t get hung up. Try it, you’ll see what we mean.

John Choma: After numerous attempts to throw the rock bag over the limb, the first rock bag's seam broke on one of it's sides. The first tree limb cut well. No issues at all. On The second branch, something happened up at the cut which isn't allowing me to make full pulls. Just short two inch strokes in either direction. It's taken me two days so far and it's still up there. I have to keep at until the branch has had enough. Not seeing much saw dust coming from the cut either. I am one aching individual. My arms and torso are killing me. if I ever get the branch down, maybe I'll post an added report on how long it took me. Going to fly my camera drone up to the cut later to see what's going on. Wish me luck.

Chook: After waiting a few weeks for this rope saw kit it was put to work today. Several 5cm to 15cm branches in excess of 5m high were taken down. The low profile double sided double direction saw chain makes it easy to pull with minimal binding. The 8m paracord was just the right length for the task at hand. I used a sock filled with sand stuffed in one of the two throw bags provided. We used two persons however an extra length of cord and a pulley could be used for single person operation. It was a little more expensive than some but am overall happy.

Amazon Customer: This product was surprisingly effective. We had a branch about 30 feet off the ground that we needed cut; we were able to throw the weight over the branch, pull up the blade, and saw the branch off. As another reviewer noted, it works better where there are two people operating it, one on each rope on either end of the blade.

Otm Shank: The large tree branch was caught over 20 feet high in the tree. To my amazement, this tool actually worked, although only after a great deal of exertion and frustration. The saw component frequently got snagged on small branches or the cut itself; it was considerable work to make the cuts and land the saw in the right place; the carabiner-like clip for the bag was flimsy and often got caught on branches and needed to be replaced. Also note that falling large branches are *dangerous*. But in the end, the branch came down and overall this device saved us the considerable expense of a tree service.

Frustrated lumberjack: Below is my original review and I still love this rope saw, even though mine broke the other day after two months use. I just ordered another one, which I would have been happy to have paid for (it is that useful), but I was really pleased to learn that a free replacement would be sent.
I have a lot more trees and high limbs than most people, so I use saw a lot more than average user would use this saw. In my case, probably ten hours a week or more, every week, and frequently I am using to saw large diameter limbs. I used this saw so often, I was surprised that I did not have to sharpen it (with the included sharpening tool.
The saw rarely got stuck, except on larger limbs, which happens with a standard chainsaw, when weight of the limb pinches on the blade. This generally happens at the end of the cut, and there is an easy work-around. Take another throw line and throw over limb towards the end of the limb, then pull down with the line a bit to take pressure off of the chain. - Be extra careful when you do this, that you don’t pull limb down on yourself, as often the limb is almost cut through when blade gets stuck. - Also, ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET WHEN DOING TREE...
