GrannyX7: This is not a novel. I tend to pick it up and read until I put it down to digest what it says. I think any peek into the life of another must be treated with respect and reverence for those brave enough to bare their soul. So far, I am TOTALLY into this book. This book is a LIFE! I thought I knew what to expect from the title. I was soooo wrong! THE Mr. Porter has a way of using words. I, as a wordie, was very happy with his free style, the dialect, the blatant honesty of thought. When he referred to "white woman pills" in chapter 8, I was hysterical after being near tears a few pages before over him saying, "I'm not alright." That's how this book is.

tash watson: I have admired this remarkable, and gifted actor, author, singer, fashion icon & human being since I watched him at the Emmys when he won for his performance 'Pose'. His speech was beautiful. The memoir, I have enjoyed reading it because it is filled with authenticity, bravery, joy, intelligence and inspiration. I haven't finished it yet, but I will, in my own time. Not only do I read his memoir but also I watch his interviews, sometimes, just getting to know him as a person as well as an actor. I have gotten to know him a bit better and I would like to meet him in future.

Louise Stokes: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Although I only really became aware of Billy Porter through his role as Pray Tell in the BBC2 series "Pose", this was a fascinating read. His life story is one of determination, triumph over adversity and never giving up. It could have descended into "woe is me" or a saccharine story of "the boy done good" but it stays on the right side of drama and his "voice" really comes through. Billy's humour and writing style is really easy to read and I would recommend this book to everyone!
