Lauren: I am in direct sales so I thought this would be a helpful read since it's specific to the industry. I read A LOT of books, particularly self-help or how-to books, and one of the most important factors is connecting with the author: feeling like she or he is writing to you while inspiring you to follow the lessons in the book. I felt like Romi tried, but she fell short. She isn't shy about being very proud of herself and her accomplishments, coming off as boastful at times. She makes it clear in the first page, and the last, that writing a book has been her lifelong dream, and it almost feels like she just wrote it to write it.
Throughout the book, she outlines how she came to earn 6 figures. Or was it 7? She threw out 6 and 7 so many times I couldn't keep track. She makes it a point in her first chapter to tell the reader that we must be coachable, meaning following the steps if we want to earn that kind of money. Otherwise, it's not going to happen. I'm glad she does this at the beginning because at least she's giving us the option to close the book from the start. But I was hopeful I might find something useful so I kept reading.

Precise Disarray: Best suited for the MLM crowd, where one has to put forth the social energy to get the ball rolling on building a career of it. Some MLMs have a lot of training material, others fall short. Some are terrible and give MLM its bad reputation (cold calls, cold messaging, all about the business or sale and never about anything else). Some a great (build relationships, don't ever push, don't sell but teach/inform, let people come to you, etc). So Regardless of which you are in, it is good to have additional information to learn from (or to have reinforced).

I know I know, MLMs are baaaaaad. Or are they? Depends on what it is and what the company culture is like- as with any business- public or private. But if your business or intent is based in network marketing, then gather as much info as possible. And if you are doing so by looking into business books about networking, then likely you are in an MLM or are building your own brand. Since this is the age of Influencers, a book like this is a fantastic foundation for learning about yourself and the general ins and outs of networking marketing model.

AKC Fitness: This is one of the rare reviews from a “dude” reading Get Over Your Damn Self. I picked up a copy of Romi’s book and was hooked right away. Although written to the female reader (over 75% of our industry) as a guy, I feel it is written for men as well.

So many people get involved in our industry with false hopes that they can just “put hours in” and they’re guaranteed success. That’s not the way it works in network marketing. We have a very simple “not easy” but simple business model. It’s different from what we learn in school and the corporate world though.

Romi does an amazing job simplifying what it actually takes to succeed in our industry. Definitely worth the read but more importantly, impliment what she teaches!

If you’re showing up and doing the work but not seeing success this book is for you. You’re going to learn that your posture and your personal power BEHIND the actions is the missing piece. And then you’re going to learn how to walk in your power and posture yourself.
