Beguiled By Books: I picked up We Should All Be Millionaires by Rachel Rodgers and loved it.

We Should All Be Millionaires is part success story for Rodgers herself and part motivation/mindset coaching for the reader. WSABM is geared toward women and explains why women, especially Black and Brown women, are consistently underpaid and overworked. I could quote all the statistics about unpaid labor at home and uneven divisions of labor within the household, but you know it. Women typically do way more free work, and we get paid less in corporate America for the same work as men.

Once you learn the history and stats, Rodgers dives into how our invisible scripts affect our lives and how we think about money. Do you make Millionaire Decisions, or do you make “Broke Ass Decisions?” Can you buy back your time by hiring a housekeeper or nanny? How does a little splurge, like regular haircare, make you feel, and does it help you make more money?

While there were not a lot of tactics in this book for getting out there and building a business (try Ramit Sethi for that), I enjoyed the positivity, mindset, and encouragement this book offers women. Check out and see what you come up with...

Karen Woodin: I am a White Mexican woman. I did not know how much I needed this book until I started reading it. Rachel Rodgers is a Black woman, a mother, a self-made millionaire and she calls out oppression, racism, sexism and all the -isms and proposes wealth as our way to fight back. I am drawn to her mission, to her calling out my broke-ass decisions and her calling us all to support other women by supporting ourselves first. Some reviews say it's not actionable enough to actually make money. Perhaps. Sure, you won't get a sequence of business strategies + tactics. However, I got something more important than that: the drive to build wealth so that I can live my best life and help other women do the same. Wealth-building as social justice. I'm tired of learning from straight cis men and frankly also from straight cis white women who don't call out oppression. If Rachel Rodgers can do it, we can do it.

Anindita Guha Maulik Rungta: This book has made me think about reaching "success " on my own terms. So far most of the books I have read have been from a male point of view. This does not take into account the conditioning that girls/women are subjected through right from birth. Even the unique challenges that women face by having the lions share of child rearing responsibility, housework etc are something that is ignored. This book lays out a different way of approaching all of these practical use issue and shows what is possible when we change the way we think and approach things
