SS: Es un excelente producto, muy conveniente en su funcionamiento. Se agrega a la cerradura existente y para gente que renta es una excelente opción para aumentar la seguridad sin cambiar chapas.

El único problema es que fuera de USA, la aplicación no permite la activación del equipo. Escribí a soporte de México y Latinoamerica y después de varias horas y transferencia entre varios agentes, llegamos a la conclusión de que no es posible de activar.

Después de esa vuelta, en mi teléfono activé una VPN y con eso pude activar el sistema sin problema. Después de activarlo es posible usarlo sin VPN.

Charles Juhl: I've had two of the 3rd Gen August Smartlocks since 2019. On one I had to 3d print a lick adapter for the Defiant deadbolt, but other than that they were very easy to install and have worked great. The hubs, not so great. They constantly lose the wifi connection. at the lock at my apartment I've had to install smart plug to power cycle the hub because it does not always reconnect. Still, a worthwhile device. Used with the Ring cams, I can pop a door for the amazon and Fedex delivery folks instead of having them leave packages outside.

Will recommend this item if you need auto lock security.

Paul: We have 2 energetic dogs that get walked separately at least twice a day; this lock with August separate Connect for Wifi are great - automatically lock and unlock the door while holding onto the leash. Sometimes I don't walk far enough for the geo-fencing to know to unlock. I carry a key for these occasions. I'm pretty concerned about security and monitor constantly; this is locked when it should be (I check August history and Alexa status). I later bought another smart lock that integrates with Ring, but never installed when I realized it had no auto-unlock capability.
A couple quirks - not worth subtracting a point:
- we have a double door with a metal astragal (on the door that's usually closed). August provides an optional gadget that detects when the door is ajar. When I tried to use this, the August could not communicate with this gadget. I assume the problem is the metal astragal. So i disabled DoorSense (the door ajar feature).
- I used to have an Android phone - the August app was a bit flaky and unlock failed until I did a reset. I recently got an iPhone and the the flakiness disappeared.

Amazon Customer: If the black levers are difficult to push down then the mounting plate is too low and the top part is in the hole and not on the door. Loosen the screws, push the plate up till the top clears the hole in the door and tighten the screws. They say to use a 5/8 drill to drill a 1/2 inch deep hole to fit the Door Sense magnet into. This hole will be too loose for a friction fit as clearly intended, so you will have to line it with carpenters glue (White Elmers glue) to hold the door sense in. Otherwise, the install went smoothly aside from the frustrating multiple tries to get the levers pushed down. I ordered a Connect WiFi bridge but the bridge had a serial number that differed from that on the box and would not connect, customer support said the bridge was already registered to another user so beware these devices are registered to their first owner and there is no clear process to reassign ownership. Returned and repackaged products will likely not be usable so be careful of ordering online and if you sell your home, this may be a problem and both you and the home buyer will need to sort it out with August.

Ken: I can't fault the company, the product is great. But if you have a similar situation as myself please beware. This product will only work well on a perfect door. Not meant for older homes with well used doors. Perhaps this is basic knowledge, however, my door doesn't close 100% perfectly, it's a millimetre away from shutting perfectly tight. And one needs to hold the door that extra millimetre for the lock to line up and close. The motor in this device is not meant to apply so much pressure as to create the needed force to tackle this problem. So please make sure your door closes perfectly before using this product. Again it's nothing to the fault of the manufacturer, but this product (and perhaps similar products) are only meant for perfectly shutting doors. I like this product, and can't be bothered to return it. I can be bothered to hold my door perfectly shut and use my phone to activate the instead of key. So the product works for me but certainly I am not taking advantage of almost all the features. Live and learn as they say! I think I will be making some adjustments to my door lock assembly to accommodate the smartness of this product.

Eric Gillette: So everything works as intended. However like other people have mentioned, the auto-unlock feature is a little quirky, but it's not because of the lock, but more due to my phone and its operating system and how it handles connections (bluetooth and WiFi specifically). So the auto-unlock feature works flawlessly if I have my phone in my hand and the screen is on, and that's because when the screen is on, the phone actively detects bluetooth and WiFi connections (it has to detect your home WiFi connection so that it knows you're actually "home", for security purposes). Since I'm typically on my phone, that works well. If my phone is in my pocket, the bluetooth and WiFi connections are detected passively (this is how it works on all Android phones to save battery power), and so the detection of the WiFi network switch happens slightly slower, but still reliably works about 80% of the time. Sometimes, I'll reach my door and it's still locked and the second I go to reach for my phone, my phone passively detects the WiFi (or is in the process thereof), and the door unlocks. The other thing people may not be aware of is that the app is watching for you to return to your "neighborhood"...

Roman Melnyk: Ok so here goes another review. Hopefully this will help all users willing to dive into this lock. First I have to say that as for the Smart Lock 3rd gen goes, the unit is absolutely well built. Super solid and installs great. The auto unlock and auto lock feature works amazing. Love it. But sadly there is always a down side. So here is the down side.

1). The August Wi-Fi connect is just horrible. I connected it to the lock no problem but trying to add it to google home was just a nightmare. Added the device in google home and it did not work. Removed it from google home and tried to add it again, nothing. Did not even show up anymore but said it was successful. After hours of trying to unlink and link it in google home. I decided to reinstall the august connect from the reset to pairing it to the lock again. Bingo the device finally decided to show up in google home. Tried to contact august and spent 1.5 hours on hold with no one answering. Just gave up. There is no customer service. Be WARNED !!!!!!! you are on your own.

2). The Bluetooth range on the august Wi-Fi connect it really really bad. Once installed it shows good signal but after a while it always reports...
