Downtown Buster Brown: I'm trying to make my way through this book, but it's grueling. We are taught to draw several different types of eyes, but painting instructions are for only two sets of eyes. Male and female. I typically paint daily, often multiple times daily. But, I've not painted in four days, because I'm making my way through the book, but just don't want to continue. The book's layout is confusing. I've not yet moved onto noses. I'm not too keen on first drawing with markers, then drawing with pencil, and then finally instruction on painting. In fact, this book is more about learning to draw than it is on helping you to learn to paint faces. There's lots of drawing instruction available outside this book. If you need help with your drawings, this book might help you, but if you want help with your paintings, I'm not sure you'll find much value. I'm sure the author is a lovely person and a wonderful artist, but not everyone is an educator. I blame the publishing company for putting this book on the market without testing its merit.

jen taylor: A beautifully done book and very informative though I was expecting something a little more loose and less realism. I considered returning it once I discovered the Jane Davenport books but decided to keep this one and return the version with animals. This artist/author is wonderful and does have a great deal to offer in her online courses as well.

ivygirlivygirl: This book is amazing! Drawing faces is intimidating to me so I prefer whimsical faces to alleviate my anxiety. This author breaks down the steps of face composition to an easy approach for even the brand new beginner! I highly recommend this book and will be referencing it often.

Suzie: I really like this book. It is for beginners or non artists who want to draw faces not portraits. It shows you different kinds of facial features and how to draw them. I have become a lot more confident since using this book.

Amazon Customer: Great little book on FACES. It's easy, peasy, and so much fun when the "teacher" is really thorough and easy to follow. Amarilys Henderson had given us a hands-on easy way to draw and paint fun little expressive faces. I love the book and the steps as she takes you through them, making it easier to create those little stinkers and divas as you want. I love the variety of expressions you can achieve from all the simple lines and the interpretations you can get from a little practice ... which I need MORE of. FUN FUN FUN!
