Debra: A gripping read that shares a tracker’s skill with those searching for a sign. I will share it with my family and friends. Passages are pinned to my fridge. An honoured act.

JENIFER J SILENCE: “Step off the superhighway of modern life and go quietly onto your own track. Go to a new trail where you can hear the whisper of your wild self in the echoes of the forest. Find the trail of something wild and dangerous and worthy of your fear and joy and focus. Live deeply on your own inner guidance. There is nothing more healing than finding your gifts and sharing them.”
Such a moving recounting of a day in the life of the author tracking with his fellow trackers, with illustrations and life lessons woven into the day’s adventure!

Kami R Tuttle: A simple, engaging, and profound read! Boyd uses rich imagery from an experience tracking lions and ties that to his vast experience as a life coach to help push back against many notions of what health and success look like in modern industrial life and reminds us of the deeper, more primal/natural ways of life that have been largely overlooked or forgotten in our busy worlds. For anyone who feels something is off and wants help stepping outside their deeply engrained cultural perspectives to consider what else life may have to offer - grab a copy and ENJOY!

Will Matthews: The book follows a day in Boyd’s life where he is tracking a lion with his two fellow trackers in the Londolozi Game Reserve. Throughout the day he is reflecting on life, the connections to nature and how tracking can be used as a kind of a dot-to-dot drawing for life. But also using & implementing tracking in your everyday life, looking for that first track, analysing and understanding it. Which is the key, this can lead to more tracks and a pathway throughout life if you let it evolve.
He draws the connection how we have lost something in our lives as humans, many of us without value, direction and belonging. How the disconnection of nature, almost disconnects our souls from our bodies & minds. Rolling through day to day in a lifeless, empty, directionless fashion. Have you ever just felt empty and without purpose? Boyd gets that, in his own way, and extends his thoughts in a beautiful fashion that makes you think about everything from a different angle. As he says “We operate on autopilot. We are in our lives, but we are not alive”.
It’s about stripping away the grandiose of life, everything that gets in the way of seeing what’s in front of you,...

J Stalley: An authentic read, particularly when the way forward is not clear, if ever, and you yearn for a closer connection to your path and the wisdom of the natural world. Ordered this as a sequel to ‘Cathedral of the Wild’ which was well written too. Thank you for sharing your journey, read in one sitting!

Kathy Walters: Think Elizabeth Gilbert meets Carlos Castaneda with a dash of Tony Robbins.
Boyd Varty is an exceptional storyteller: the narrative keeps you on the edge of your seat, while the author's self-discovery tracks through his clear prose like lion prints on river bank sand. For anyone wanting to venture into the unknown, this book is a must read - you will learn to trust yourself the way you can trust the faint whiff of campfire smoke.
I read this book in one sitting and there were a dozen or more starkly simple and unarguable sentences that made me wish I had not yet finished the book. Lines like: "Track what makes you feel good and bring more of it into your life. Notice what makes you feel lousy and do less of it."
And this one which best summarizes the author's advice: "Prepare yourself to hear the call, invite the unknown, look for the first track, tune in to the instrument of the body, and learn to see the track amidst many that brings you to life."
