Betty Jane Scarano: A very sweet book. Very well written. So far, all the "Bob" books are wonderful. A refreshing relief from all the sad things going on in the world.

N. B. Kennedy: I bought this book for my son, who was enamored of Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat . This story of a "busker" who befriends a stray tabby cat is perfect for this audience. It's a cleaned-up, simplified version of A Street Cat Named Bob . There are some tough issues to be dealt with -- drug and alcohol abuse, homelessness -- and they're handled sensitively in this book without being ignored. You can enjoy the feline story, yet use the book as a jumping-off point for discussions of life's realities. The color photos of this handsome cat are lovely! For those who have been to London and strolled the area around Covent Garden, where Bob's owner was a street musician, it's a pleasure to visit again.

Truffle Guernsey: I bought this child version (11-18) of this book for my son to read as I had read and loved the original (A Street cat called Bob). The content of that was probably a little too advanced for my son so I ordered this.
He was a little reticent at first, but once he started it he couldn't put it down, completing it in two days of the Easter break. I had forewarned him that it was a true story about a man who had taken drugs in the past and who was trying to improve his life. He took this in his stride and has not yet asked any questions about his life.
He has been keen to look at the authors posts on my Facebook and Twitter accounts (he is too young to have his own for a few years) and is fascinated by a current true story.
He is now keen to pass this on to his friends to read and is basing his school homework on it.
I would recommend that an adult read it first in case there are questions about the content and what James has faced in his life.
