Rachel Whitehawk Day: Well written and thorough-great for horse owners-real insight into a horse’s mind. More education results in better horses, better owners, and better relationships.

RedHorse: Horses are my life and I continue to learn something from them every day. Mark is a true horseman who writes beautifully and captures the essence of the horse, and rider partnership, and teaches with feel/emotion and love of the horse. His understanding of horse behavior is paramount to all that follows. What I love about this book is how he teaches through mistakes and failure and embraces them in order to learn and move forward to becoming one of the great horsemen of our time. Thank you for such a wonderful book, I have already passed it on to my children.

Rachel: Far too basic for most horse people and a lot of it was simply common sense. I gave two stars as it could be helpful to someone who knows next to nothing about horses.
I thought I was getting a book on equine psychology (as the title would suggest but there’s hardly any of that really. Not sure why chapters on anatomy, horse growth, stable management and the authors methods of training were really necessary for this book.
Also, the authors comments on working horses barefoot is nonsense and merely her own, very outdated, opinion. She clearly doesn’t know much about the subject. Makes me wonder how much of the rest of the book is just her own opinion without any proper in depth research.
If you are looking for a good book on horse psychology, I can thoroughly recommend ‘Horse Brain, Human Brain’ by Janet L. Jones. A brilliant book that’s actually based on science.

nnemcik: I enjoyed reading this book so much. The author writes in just enough details to understand the concepts and the "why" behind everything. It's a great way to start learning about horses, but I even think established horsepeople will find it helpful too! The photos and illustrations are great. Highly recommend.

Cait: Let me first say that I love horses and hate reading. And even though I hate reading i loved this book. There is so much packed into this book it is amazing. This books teaches so many real and relevant things in a way that is easy to understand using not only words but pictures and diagrams. It really teaches about horses and "why they do what they do". I do not own a horse but I do ride and I found this very helpful. It helped me to understand why my horse reacts different ways to different things. I would recommend this to anyone with a interest in horses.
