andrea bertoli: Don't let the size of this book worry you—it's riveting and wonderful and joyful to read. Learning more about our collective history and use of plant medicines is ushering in the next psychedelic revolutions, and this book is the foundation we need!

Dasa Alexyova: Brian is a man and a lawyer and a scientist..so not any hippie like I am :)...I love all things spiritual and esoteric and I love learning about priestesses and goddesses and all rituals and ceremonies they used to do and this is such a gift in this area. To finally understand what happened and how it happened and how we lost all that power we used to have as women and as witches..it's just so liberating and I am very grateful that it's being proven in this way but years of dedicated research. Thank you Sir. My gratitude beyond stars for this gift of a book !!!!

Doc: I found ‘The Immortality Key’ to be a truly fascinating read! The topic is well researched, and the book is well written. Given the amount of information covered, I appreciated the author’s frequent summarising of the overall discussion and the repetition of points made from previous chapters. Despite being a chunky book, it felt mostly concise. I didn’t find myself growing bored of laboured points or irrelevant details. I found that the book was easy to understand but didn’t feel overly simplified. Complex points offer enough explanation that you don’t need a background in linguistics, history, etc to understand the discussions.
If you’re curious about how ancient humans shaped the world we live in today, and how echoes of their beliefs and practices can still be found in modernity, this book will grip your attention from start to finish. If you’re a fan of Graham Hancock’s work (who wrote the foreword for this book), then you’ll definitely enjoy ‘The Immortality Key’.

However, I would like to address some of the comments that I read in this review section prior to purchasing the book. There are many reviews which claim that the author holds some...

Jack Hicks: The Immortality Key, The Secret History of The Religion With No Name
Brian C. Muraresku, 2020
In a cave in Egypt in 1948, a clay jar was discovered. Inside were ancient manuscripts of an early Christian sect called the Gnostics. I read Eliane Pagels “The Gnostic Gospels a number of years ago and was somewhat intrigued by some of the cryptic sayings contained in the Gospels. In the gospel of St. Thomas, Jesus says “Recognize what is before your eyes and what is hidden will be revealed” or “Men ask when will the kingdom of the father come? The kingdom is here now, and men do not see it”, “He who drinks from my lips shall be as I and I shall be as he”. A literal reading of these sayings would lead one to the thought that if one absorbed this secret Gnosis or knowledge, one could become transformed, become spiritually as a Jesus. Predictably this sect would be relentlessly persecuted and stamped out by the Vatican after the 4th century to the point that the only knowledge we have of these gospels is the single copies hidden away in a cave in Egypt. What was this secret knowledge that is referred to? This book by Brian Muraresku, attempts to answer this question by...

Kenneth Carter: Brian’s thesis, that of the Pagan Continuity Hypothesis, was explored by Alexander Hislop in his “The Two Babylons”, 1853, as a Protestant treatise in the spirit of Martin Luther as Alexander too interjects the Elusinian Mysteries. Brian’s treatise follows in that anti-Catholic tradition but with a psychedelic twist as he embraces a 21st century neo-shamanistic apologetic presented within an evolutionary backdrop, tracing spiked pharmacopeia all the way back to the Stone Age. Interestingly, primeval shamanistic artifacts have been found much later at paleolithic sites in Europe dating to 25,000 BC according to the famed Mircea Eliade. Though Orthodox, I much appreciate Brian’s dedicated efforts to build upon Professor Ruck’s, “The Road to Eleusis”, with a tenacity that only a devotee of The Mysteries would embrace and with such a spirited dogma throughout the book. And he traversed multi-disciplinary territories as only an esquire might in building a defense case based on data points even though he makes a few category mistakes, philosophically speaking, along the way as evidenced by his assuming that the contemporary Eucharist is a placebo without explaining how a...

AD: Came across Brian Muraresku's interview on the JRE podcast last year and was deeply intrigued by his excellent presentation on the show. This book is captivatingly written and very well-researched. Highly recommend to those interested in the history of western civilization and psychedelics. Very interesting Greco-Indian connections as well.

ABC: That `The Immortality Key’ has been written has been of great comfort for someone who has lived two separate lives. The first life involved an experience with pharmakon in the form of psilocybe cubensis (magic mushrooms) mixed with honey, that together with cannabis resulted in a vision from God.
I wrote a fictionalised memoir about the events that occurred during the 1980’s around that experience, but due to the hostility and fear of a society that no longer understands such experiences, very few have read “Life Before Death”.

The circumstances of the vision were as follows: A Sunday afternoon get-together with my older brother and two Greek friends was enhanced by the consumption of the mushroom mixture mentioned above. After what may have been a few hours, the effects of the ‘trip’ subsided, and we then sat around and partook of some cannabis. One of my Greek friends went to each member of the group and ‘anointed’ them with a spot of balm on the forehead. Then my brother and I were left alone in the lounge room.
Lying back on a couch, I went into a state which is described in Muraresku’s book as a ‘sleep of death’. My soul left my body, and I...
