Jonathan Cloutet: This book explains basic and intermediate concepts of personal finance, economics, and good money management habits in a way that is relatable to kids. My seven year old son was really able to understand and graphs the concepts, and really enjoyed the characters and the examples in the book.

Snatch: This is now becoming gospel in my family. In the past, trying to get my kids to understand the value of money and urging them to develop the proper habits was incredibly frustrating. I did not know how to present these concepts in a simple, relatable way and my kids just zoned out most of the time. After reading this book and seeing how the author laid out the information in such an intuitive way, I made it a goal to read through it with my kids each night. I was surprised at how they were genuinely engaged and asked really great questions! This simple yet thoughtful book has really captured my kids' attention and as a family, we now have a set of guidelines that we apply to our everyday lives.
I'm a little ashamed to admit, but adults can benefit from this book too. If your upbringing was anything like mine where mom and dad generally did not teach you anything about how to handle money other than to tell you to save, this book is for you! Spare your kids a future of financial ignorance and let them see money for what it is so they can make it work for them instead of the other way around!

Guest: First, the book probably should be updated, revised to bring it up to date as far as interest rates charged by lenders or interest rates earned by depositors, and so forth. Still, this does not take away from the book; it is a good book to read though I'd combine it with the author's "Finance 102 for Kids" and with "INVESTING for kids" (by Dylin Redling).
The example dealing with interest earned on pages 20 and 21 could be made clearer by stating that the interest earned is SIMPLE INTEREST! The example does not take into account compound interest ("interest on interest") and this may confuse some readers. Still, not a huge issue; example should simply state that it is "simple interest"!
The book makes comment that the "payee" (recipient) of a bounced check is liable for a penalty along with the "maker" of the check! This is great information; I was totally unaware of this; many thanks to the author for including this in the book. Also, a technically more appropriate term for what one achieves in bankruptcy is that the debts are DISCHARGED.
The "Stock Market" section of the book, pages 71-74 should make it clear that the "shares" in "Cupcake Avenue" acquired by the two...

Joe Sanfilippo: Good starting point for the kids. It generated a lot of valuable questions around money and credit that allowed for more conversations. My 11 and 9 year olds read this book
