Amazon Customer: I liked how it addressed the issue of anxiety and gave suggestions in the end on how to deal with it.

Mrs H: This is such a wonderful book.
The illustrations are fun, and the monster character is just so loveable.
The story itself is great for helping young children how to understand worries and anxieties, and how to manage their anxiety if their worries seem too big or wild.
Would be a perfect addition to homes and school/nursery libraries.

lindy: I am a child play therapist and utilize many books for children.
This one is, truly, a # 1 choice! My child clients LOVE it, and, it includes techniques to calm anxiety, which is rare.
I am buying one for each client to have at home.
THANK YOU, Melanie Hawkins, for such a great, healing book !

Booklover: We feel like this book is well written and very helpful learning to manage anxiety. The descriptions of how anxiety can manifest in children and adults has been very helpful with helping my grandson describe how he feels.

Jus: My 6 year old son is beginning to have anxiety and I ordered books to help him process his feelings. This book is cute and well illustrated, but I would say it is more for ages 9 and up. My son didn't understand anything the book was saying. Even when I explained what the monster represented he was so confused and now thinks we have literal monsters following us around. I understand where the author was coming from, just wanted to put it out there that this is too metaphorical for small kids.

Lori B.: Many books teach children how to utilize positive coping mechanisms to deal with challenging feelings. However, I think “How To Tame My Anxiety Monster” stands out among the pile of other useful resources available because it reads like a children’s story instead of a self-help book, which is more likely to keep young listeners or readers entertained and engaged.
I also like that the author chose not to tell the story in rhyme. By sticking with short sentences and simple words in easy-to-understand language, children will find the content more relatable.
Likewise, the author did an outstanding job describing anxiety in both words and illustrations. It was a genius idea to use a “monster” as a visual aid to represent anxiety. It turned a vague notion of a feeling into a real nemesis for the main character to battle with and eventually tame.
My favorite part of the whole story and an important message that I hope everyone who reads this book will take to heart is the following sentence:
“I am stronger than my monster. Even with him around, I can still do all the things I need to do.”
Anxiety can be managed & controlled even if it...

K. Urena: Great message. Kids need this, to learn that we all have a monster we need to tame. It gives practical ideas and resources for parents too. A must have book!

JLBB: This story does an excellent job of explaining anxiety in a way that children can understand. I wish books like this existed to help me when I was young, but it’s great to know that kids now have resources like this!

Shaidh: This book is super cute and I love how it’s geared towards our children. Everyone can struggle with anxiety but there are ways to work through it. I enjoyed the strategies inside. My only criticism is the usage of the word “monster” for many children That means something they should fear. Anxiety should not be feared, it’s normal to feel anxiety especially is specific situations.

Sandra Wilson: Such a great book to offer practical solutions for kids to help them deal with anxiety. Identifying anxiety as a monster helps children make sense of what is going on - and gives them something to focus their strategies on.
