Penelope Molenburg: Dont do what I did though. I was under the impression the book was like a self workbook. Yet, its a bit confusing. Im not sure if its a work book for like a therapist and a client ?

Barbara H.: I work on a psych unit in a hospital. I lent it to a patient who was avoidant of groups due to her high level of anxiety. She said "I've read many books on depression/anxiety and this one is by far the best. I've read many written by doctors and they were difficult for me to understand. Maybe if I was a doctor, I would". I personally like a lot of the exercises and worksheets. So many people suffer from depression and anxiety. This book has become my work Bible!

Kindle Customer: I've begun to use Dr. Abel's new workbook in my psychotherapy practice. It's clearly and empathetically written; both myself and my patients enjoy using it. The therapist guide is included in separate chapters in the text so unlike other workbooks, there's no need to buy a separate tome. As well, there are free mindfulness recordings which can be downloaded. Dr Abel's contribution provides effective treatment for my patients to help them manage and to reduce depression and anxiety.

Abraxas66: After attending Dr. Abel’s seminar on anxiety and panic, I was moved to purchase her workbook. I’m not prone to buying most therapeutic workbooks so this was an exception. I have already utilized some of her ideas in my practice. Thankfully this manual will serve as another tool to utilize when feeling staid.
The devil is in the details and Dr Abel has provided them in this practical, workable test.
I encourage anyone in our profession (and outside) to attend a seminar and/or buy this helpful workbook. The use of mindful acceptance/observation was a great reinforcer/ reminder of “meeting the person where they are” but not being passive while doing so.
A handy book. No reason not to buy it.
