So hard to find non-mdf! So this can be easily painted in the future too.

Highly recommended though I’m either paining or switching out the drawer pulls - look very cheap.

PS bought two 8” mattresses; I recommend a 10” or deeper for the top. The wood side rises up quite a bit, making sitting on the edge uncomfortable with the 8” mattress.

Heather L.Heather L.: The bed was delivered in two separate boxes. We need to open both of them to assemble the bed. Some of the instructions are lacking but we figured it out. It’s very solid and sturdy. Only things I would change would be to add two more slats to the top and the bottom so you aren’t constantly losing stuffed animals or small things down the corners. Some finishing issues: inward and outward directions were not noted for the headboard and footboard pieces and there were some very rough sanded finishes that would snag blankets on the side rails and headboard and footboard. I could have faced them in words have they been marked top bottom left or right. the middle drawer is a little sticky and we tried troubleshooting it but it’s not a dealbreaker. You can comfortably sleep two adults in it without it making horrible, creaking noises like it’s going to fall apart. My kid loves it.

Amazon CustomerAmazon Customer: We have been looking for a trundle bed for our daughters for over a year. (5 & 7 years old - both 40 lbs) We finally purchased this one and couldn't be happier! The wood itself and the finish on it is absolutely beautiful. The instructions were easy to follow. It took about 4 hours total to assemble. It wasn't hard, just time consuming. We used an electric screwdriver. We bought matching mattresses. 8 inch. They fit great. The drawers are bigger than I thought and fit ALOT of stuff! Sturdy enough that our whole family has had snuggle time already. About 400lbs total. It seems very high quality and for the price we paid we are just ecstatic! Absolutely recommend!!

Jessy D.Jessy D.: I will not EVER stop raving about this bed. The pictures or description from the listing do not do it any justice. It is absolutely exquisite. The bed comes in two boxes. It is made of real wood, not particle board like I was highly expecting. The pictures made it look like a flat board type wood with a painted type of weathered/distressed look but it is NOT that!!! The finish is absolutely killer!!! It has SO much texture and really gives it a beautiful look that you can't see I'm the listing. I was SOOO surprised by how beautiful each piece was when I was unboxing it. Each piece was flawless. It is very sturdy. Each piece was clearly labeled. Easy assembly. My friend and I went at assembling it, and it only took a couple of hours. It is cheaper than a single twin bed I was looking to buy at Ashley furniture, but the quality of this bed is twice as good, hands down. I loved that the trundle was not on a track, and also featured three nice and spacious drawers. jonesk: This is the best of these types of beds available on Amazon under 400. All solid wood, pieces were marked per the instructions and in excellent condition. No mdf except the drawer bottoms. The trundle accepts a regular sized twin mattress unlike the majority of others that require a smaller/thinner sofa bed mattress. Assembly does take some time as expected when assembling a large piece of furniture. The instructions were no problem to follow with common sense. The pieces come mixed in two cartons for ease of shipment, not ease of assembly. Time and frustration can be reduced by grouping them by their order of assembly before starting construction. It is more solid and sturdy than I expected it would be. Time will tell but, it seems like it will outlast the vast majority of comperable beds made with mdf. Could it be better?? Yes, it could be made of oak, have more bracing, better handles for the drawers and a book shelf in the headboard but good luck finding or even building one like that from scratch for under 400. Overall we are very pleased with this purchase and our 10y/o daughter loves her new bed. I don't give 5 stars unless something really...
