Amazon Customer: The first book was more enjoyable. I’ve read it 4 times. Second book kind of goes flat toward the end.

Pete J: As in the first book of the series, each chapter is a complete story, well-told from a fresh perspective of life in the Hebrides islands from a newcomer. You come to care about the real people she helps as a nurse and wonder at the freedom to have childhood adventures of her two youngest sons. The move to California and Nevada because of a job transfer for her husband was taken in stride and Andy, the youngest son, continued to have exploits and grow into a fine, young man. You see Mary almost become younger as she finally has time to explore new things with her youngest.

Retta M: Interesting stories told in an engaging and entertaining way. They’re well-written, and reminded me of the style and experiences of the James Herriot series.

Kindle Customer F. Stevens: awesome stories, as an immigrant in Canada from Scotland I could relate to some of the stories. I enjoyed reading some of the funny situation Nurse Macleod found herself in and i cried with her as she lost patients she'd had in her life for a long time.

Big Sister: Mary J MacLeod has written some wonderful stories and I will be giving these books as gifts. Being an old retired nurse myself, I am amazed that these books were written as a reminiscence with such detail and insight forty years later. Having lived for five years on an island in Alaska myself, it is obvious she had the perfect personality for living in a remote area and being on call 24/7. An added bonus is her appreciation of nature sprinkled throughout the stories. However, I do think this second book in the series should have ended when the family left Scotland. The United States experience seemed tagged on and could have been saved for another book. But, all in all, I enjoyed her style of writing and the stories she told!
With that said, what isn’t apparent in the advertising is that there are titles being sold on Amazon that are the same story. One was published in the United Kingdom as "More Tales From the Island Nurse published in 2014," and the other was published in the United States in 2018 as "Nurse, Come You Here". I ordered both, thinking I was getting two different books. (The same thing happened with the first book, "The Island Nurse, which was published in the...

Kindle Customer: An accurate assesment of time, lives and places... Love her sense of humor... Appreciate the relaxed slow pace of life... So miss the ilses at the end... Amazing how a person can adjust, accept and learn to appreciate such different environs... An admirable quality... And we are far too materialistic to appreciate the simple things in life...

Jean: I enjoyed MacLeod’s first book “Call the Nurse” about her life as a nurse on the Island of Papavray in the Scottish Hebrides. So, I decided to read the sequel. I must say that I enjoyed the first book more than the second.

The first part of the book is about life and nursing on Papavray. The second part is about the family following her husband as his work took them to Nevada, California and England. The book is well written and the famous Scottish humor is prevalent in the story. MacLeod presents various short stories about people she cared for. I found it interesting to learn about the state of medical and nursing care in the 1960s. MacLeod reveals the cultural shock the family felt going from the Hebrides Island to Nevada and California and from Scottish culture to American Culture. Overall the book made of a delightful, easy read.

I read this as an e-book via my Kindle app for the iPad. The book is 320 pages long.
