Marvin W.: I have asked for recommendations from equipment manufacturers and often they point to APC units, mainly because of cost. Since we were putting in a new transmitter at our site, I wanted a truly rack-mountable UPS, rather than have to have a shelf put in and then run the unit laying on its side. The APC units have had reports of reliability problems for a couple of years now, and being a student back in the 80's, I was able to work closely with Tripplite to get schematics for some of their products and found their designs were always solid and well thought out. The fact this unit is built specifically for rack mounting, made it a natural, and Tripplit's reliability is needed for a UPS that will be tied to a transmitter memory system and filter the power for the rest of the equipment in the rack. Even though it cost a bit more, I just felt it was a better choice. This unit a very heavy, you will need help mounting it in a rack, or mount a shelf first to hold it for you. You'll want to be sure you mount it toward the bottom of your rack to make sure the weight doesn't make you rack top heavy. The fact that it's heavier than an APC unit tells me more about what...

jb512: I run a small business doing photo/video/audio restoration/up-scaling/conversion. Time is a premium and having capable, speedy hardware is a must. So I run an Intel Core i7-13700K, 32GB-DDR5-6400, three SSDs, ASUS TUF Gaming RTX4080 16GB GPU, SSL2 audio interface, Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro 4K, etc, etc, etc... all running on an amazing Super Flower PSU; plus two monitors and a large 65" flat panel TV. Every one of these things is plugged into this Tripp Lite UPS, specifically in the outlets connected to the battery. I mention this differentiation, because there are an equal number of outlets that do not use the battery - they are only surge-protected.

So this unit has an LCD screen on the front panel with multiple readouts providing various bits of info - so you know what the unit is doing, and how much you're demanding from the unit. (Very handy feature, by the way!) One of those indicators is a 5-bars readout that lets me know how much power I'm drawing from the unit at any given time.

At rest, under 0% computer load (meaning everything is powered on, but nothing major is processing at the time), the LCD readout on the UPS shows 1-bar in...

Neil Underwood: Bought two expensive hdds recently, and already had the thrill of watching the house power go off for a few seconds without any problems for my $1000 plus in new drives. It was a worthwhile investment in preserving new expensive hardware. Sure glad I didn't put off the expense.

pepper45322: Huge. I will update in a few months. I received today and wanted to share my experience and provide tips.
First, I did not notice ANY odor upon opening the box.
Second, It is huge in comparison to APC units I have bought in the past. I was an APC fan until the unit internal systems broke down and would not work with new batteries. I Wanted to try different and narrowed this down to Tripp-Lite and Cyber-Power 1500.
Tripp-Lite is 900 watts. I am running:

-Intel I-7 core processor
-power supply is dynamic 850 WATTS
-32 GBs Ram
-Windows 10
-DELL 24 inch LED monitor
-Yamaha Quad speaker with subwoofer

Output is at 10%
Out Watts 90, which is minimal
Estimate backup is roughly 56-60 minutes, which is plenty, given I have a Kohler 20RES 20,000 K (with 200 watt entire house transformer) Generator. I live in Ohio in the country and my local company just randomly tested power and disconnected several homes without warning. I was on the computer when everything when dark. Not good. Then recently, our transform caught on fire. again without warning, and yes, I was computer. I am lucky my computer works at all, hence,...
