Daniel G: This book is admittedly described as written for professionals; so I can not bring myself to give it less than 4 stars as it is an outstanding book with thorough descriptions of muscle workings, connections, & how to manually find them based on anatomical anchors. People who have gone to be educated on the anatomy & proper terminology (medial, lateral, distal, acromion clavicle, etc.) should find this book to be an excellent resource.
However if you are unaquainted with anatomical jargon you will want to have your phone or an anatomy dictionary with you as you disect & decrypt this book.
I'll be purchasing the Self-Care Manual by the same authur (Donna Finando) which based on reviews is geared towards us mere mortals unfamiliar with Latin & anatomy. Those of us who just want to know where to poke around & how to stretch to stop hurting.

PHILIP: This seems an excellent book which includes not only the basic material about trigger points, their referred pain patterns and their treatment, but a more extensive treatment pattern and an more extensive view of the impact of constriction due to trigger points on other bodily systems. The KINDLE EDITION appears to omit one of the best features of the book, the visual index of pain patterns!! Big black marks for that, whether it is a defect in the transformation to the Kindle edition, or a failure in my download.

Dr. Jill: Have a patient with a troublesome pain issue? One that you just can't put your finger on? Well the education in Trigger Point Therapy is the book for you! I purchased the paperback version with the certification test and it is the clearest presentation of the trigger point pain issue I have ever used. I purchased the kindle version so I would have it with me, in case I needed the info at my fingertips during a session or wanted to show patients the pain area diagrams[home health or traveling situations]. The book not only increased my skills, but increased my credibility with patients and clients as I can show them what the issues are, work on them and assign their case specific homework [stretches & exercises]. I recommend it to massage therapists, physical therapists [and their assistants], occupational therapists [and their assistants]. There is an easy to follow self help version that the layman can get and use for themselves.

Jennifer Cherney: I used this to help me understand shoulder pain and the trigger points because my hubby is a welder and has complained of shoulder tightness and pain since we met, I have massaged them on a regular basis and they are better, but there is still some tightness. This book has helped me learn a bit more to treat it.
