The Tramontina 24" Machete is the perfect tool for your gardening needs. With its lightweight design of 1.25 pounds, it is easy to carry and use. The textured black plastic handle offers a comfortable grip, while the satin finish carbon steel blade makes it ideal for trimming. This machete has been rated highly based on its size, customer support, ergonomic design, and build quality. It is the perfect choice for all your gardening needs.Megan Larew: Love this blade. Easy to sharpen/holds an edge. Ergonomic swing. I filed the sharp edge on back of handle to round it off. Loved the first one and bought a second.

Hans Granheim: This company started making machetes in a small blacksmith shop in Brazil in 1911. That provenance is shown in the simple and practical functionality of this machete. I have an 18 inch Tramontina machete with a wooden handle that works well in tight areas. This 24" machete is front weighted and can reach out and touch some gnarly brush and saplings. It is a working machete. The very tip and first 4" of the blade are unsharpened in a traditional fashion to limit injury. I suggest leaving it that way. The handle is molded plastic with a bit of texturing on it. It functions well for all but the largest hands. One gripe is the flat cut off at the end of the handle. It's a bit uncomfortable but can be rounded off with a flat file. The blade is maybe 3-5mm and flexes some but is controllable. It sharpens up nicely and a few drops of oil will keep it rust free for years. A classic working machete at a bargain price. Highly recommended. (note- no sheath is included with this machete.)

Amazon Customer: I was looking for a long, non-weather-finished machete, and this seems to satisfy me so far (after a replacement).
First machete I received was fairly noticeably bent to the right in a gentle curve with some twist. Somewhat better than a sharp angle bend, but it wouldn't bend back straight after considerable effort bending the opposite direction, so I had Amazon replace it, which was thankfully quick and easy. At least I know the blade is pretty springy and durable after bending the blade fairly extremely in my attempts to straighten it.
The second one I received as a replacement was nice and straight, and had a more even grind on the blade.
It's a thin and fairly light overall design for the length, but its blade shape and short handle mean it's quite forward-weighted, which took some adjusting coming from swinging nimbler swords and shorter 20" latin machetes.
The machete's extreme forward balance (9" or so from the top of handle) forced me to adjust my normal handshake grip and focus on getting absolute maximum palm-to-spine contact area to get consistent edge alignment, so it's a bit harder to handle than I expected. With my bare hands, it...

Adam wuzhere: its ok, seems like lesser quality steel than normal , a bit too soft of steel for a machette but the length is good, the plastic handle is slippery with gloves , had to add grip tape .

Ellobo: Da gibt fast nichts zu meckern, nur der Griff ist hinten oben zu scharf kantig.
Ansonsten hervorragend!!

L.M.: Got this for my latino workers to cut small branches and weeds. They are used to working with machetes and they quite like this one. It has a good length and is well balanced. It goes quicker with this than with a chainsaw or shears for small/medium branches. You must know how to sharpen it as needed.

Lumen: I want to preface this by saying I carried and used machetes for 40 years, hunting, fishing, trapping, property clearing, etc. I mis-laid my old machete of 30 years and was lost without one. I reviewed most all the ones offered on Amazon and thought this to be the best choice. I liked the longer blade and the shank went through the handle. I have several issues with the design and some from a safety standpoint. The blade is only 0.075" to 0.080" thick - too thin for the blade length. There is severe flexing and without proper strength the blade tends to bounce off thicker under brush. I don't have large hands, even at that, the handle to too small, even wearing gloves. The plastic handle is too smooth, not allowing a secure grip. My old wooden handle machete was a bit shorter but was much heavier steel and a secure grip. I'll keep this machete to use as a weed wacker for around the house. I won't bother shopping for a new machete online, as much of the important info is missing by the manufacturer, or misleading. For the price, I got what I paid for, but this machete is a bit unsafe overall.
