Sheeba 1: My review explains what Idid not like about this umbrella. First no instruction on how to get it open and once it’s open you need to be extra strong to get it to +lick in the open position unless you are super strong. Definitely not for a senior.

Katherine Andringa: If you need a compact umbrella that is hard to open/close this is for you. Even with my adult strength I struggled, my kid couldn’t do it at all. Good size for a child to use while waiting for the bus but they won’t be able to close it and store away. The strap that wraps around the umbrella when folded is almost too short, you have to pull hard to get the Velcro to connect and the single stitch line on the fabric means it will rip quickly. Not impressed.

Amazon Customer: I LIKE IT - Except for 2 things - The handle not much to hold on to, and getting the spokes back in the handle to close it is a lille tricky.- YEAH it's one of those kind of umbrellas! But no big deal - And it's very light weight and fits in a small purse or back pack! I now have my own shade when I need it ;-)

Sturdy, well made, but light enough it could maybe be blown in very windy weather. However being that it is compact, it can fit in a carry on bag or decent size purse easily, which was my intention. Chose yellow, very pretty yellow at that!

W.K: A crude test to check whether a fabric can efficiently block light (and therefore UV) is to hold the fabric up close to your face, face an intensely bright light source, and look through it to see whether any light passes through the weave of the fabric.

I did this test with the umbrella (black) against the bright summer sky and found in the fabric no visible perforations that would allow light to pass through from the other side. For reference, denim, apparently, has a UPF value of 1700, and if you peer in closely, some light can still pass through its weave. As such, I'm very satisfied with the value of this umbrella.

Note though, that the fabric is ever so slightly glossy, as most synthetic fabrics are, so, while the umbrella should, in good faith, be able to fully block incident rays of sunshine, the underside of the fabric will still reflect back onto the user a fair amount of the UV that itself is reflected from the surfaces of miscellaneous things in the vicinity.
That said, this is a physical property unavoidable in all materials that are not pieces of vantablack engineering. The intensity and wavelength of the radiation that can be reflected from a fabric...

Matthew Morrison: I have bought umbrella's from Tradmall before...my last umbrella was my favorite since it was "self closing" and very strong. Unfortunately, I left my favorite umbrella on a train in Berlin whilst traveling so I went to get a new one by them and found this one. It is much lighter and smaller, which is perfect for me to use for when I travel (which is a LOT). It could fit into a purse or backpack and is of good strength and size given its light weight. I am super pleased and it was fun to have it in non-traditional black (though you can get the same umbrella in that color too). UPDATE: I can't tell you how much we love the size of this tiny umbrella...we just came back from a holiday with a girlfriend and she would not give this up the whole time since it was so tiny for her purse and the rain kept coming and going. Can easily fit into the pocket of a coat but it is strong as well. I am very impressed!
