I bought some bad seeds from someplace else and they were horrible (didn't all sprout, had tough hulls, were bitter and upset our tummies). That's why I'm so thankful for the Amazon reviewers. We bought these chemical free seeds based on all the great reviews. These seeds are great! I use a four tier sprouter. I simply placed a half tablespoon full in each tier and then poured two cups of water over them one to two times per day. After the second day they were sprouting. All of the seeds, not just some of them. They were fully sprouted and ready to eat in 5 days. No presoaking was required.
Watch YouTube if you have any questions about sprouts or the sprouting process, there are a bunch of helpful videos. I keep mine in the kitchen on the counter out of direct sunlight.
THE TASTE
The taste is fresh and full of flavor. No bitterness at all. I have been putting them on sandwiches, adding to soup (stirring in just before eating) and just grabbing a pinch full to munch on. I will definitely buy this brand again. Trust me, not all seeds are the same, but these are great.

G. Emanuel: Yes, long ago and far away, I went through a "pioneer woman" phase and did a lot of sprouting at that time. But life intervened, and I left the farm for other persuits. Suddenly I'm retired, and cleaning out kitchen cupboards when I find my 40-year old sprouting kit. We all know that 40 years is plenty of time to forget what you knew, but I decided that since alfalfa sprouts have become one of those vanishing products at all of my handy supermarkets why not try to sprout my own? Now bear in mind that the last time I sprouted anything, the Internet didn't exist. So I came to Amazon, searched "alfalfa seeds for sprouting", made a totally random choice from the results, and ended up with this product. I have nothing to compare it to, quality wise, or even price wise. I just had a bee in my bonnet about wanting alfalfa sprouts and this is where the Universe led me.
My seeds arrived two days after placing my order...very fast. I imediately started soaking some in water and the next morning spread them out out in my sprouter and covered them with a damp towel. That's when my memory started getting a little fuzzy. I was about to start looking for instructions online, when I noticed...

Shiwa Cholu: It took me some time to figure out how to grow these optimally.
2 tablespoons of seeds in large plastic tub (I use Costco Potato Salad tub). Cover with cold water and leave in a dark place at least 5 hours or overnight. Put lots of air holes in lid.
After initial soaking, drain and rinse thoroughly a few times. Let them sit in the water for a minute before final draining. Return to dark place having thoroughly drained them.
Drain, rinse, drain twice a day (morning and evening). Do this for about 3-4 days until sprouts are about an inch long. Whenever you rinse, be sure to cover with water for at least a minute before draining thoroughly. They grow in a clump, so gently break clump apart each time you soak. Return to dark.
After 3-4 days continue same process but put tub in lit area so the sprouts begin to green. (don't put in direct sunlight.
Voila! Store tub in fridge and rinse 1x a day. Drain thoroughly or sprouts can begin to rot if left in water in fridge. Enjoy!
