Thornton's Luxury Goods 30ml Black Fountain Pen Ink Bottle: Premium Quality

David Lee Hedrick: Ok this is a good renowned ink maker for pens. It’s smooth on paper, refills in the pen easily and without a mess. I wrote in my journal and it was like gliding on glass,
no bleeding, no smearing, cleans with ease. Couldn’t complain about the price.

db: I ended up buying black ink to supplement the sepia tone of the first ink I purchased. To attain the dark sepia color I wanted, I mixed 2 to 1 sepia to black and attained something close to the color of the ink discharged by the sepia squid.
I am using the resulting ink in my Parker 75 fountain pens, one with a medium nib and the other with an italic. The ink flows very well in these pens regardless of how quickly I write, it stays fluid for several days between uses, and is very smooth in the medium point, and only slightly less so in the italic. The black, by itself approached the saturation of India ink, the sepia is translucent and perhaps mimics the appearance of the faded tone of old documents written in squid ink. My preference caused my to try mixing the two inks and I am very satisfied with the result, dark sepia and opaque.
Finding an ink that flows well without drying out too quickly is a little difficult with Parker 75 pens, at least with the earlier American style interchangeable nibs. I am very pleased to have found both the color and consistency of ink that works well for my purposes. I feel I can recommend Thornton's Luxury Inks.

Java Dude: This is my first bottle of ink manufactured by Thornton's Luxury Goods. I am a fountain pen user of about 50 years now, and have an untold number of ink samples and bottles. I am into ink.

I've been looking around for some vivid blues. I saw the swatches for Very Peri and it looked good on screen anyway. So I ordered a bottle, not knowing what to expect.

I tested it thoroughly on my Monteverde Innova medium nib, which tends to be a dry writer. Filling from the bottle was quick and easy.

I had assumed the "Peri" part of Very Peri meant periwinkle. The hue is arguably in the periwinkle color vicinity, but it's much more saturated, being very vivid on the page. The color is more what I would call "blurple", an expression commonly given to blue-purple inks. It's a beautiful, rich blurple.

There's some interesting chemistry going on here. It's a fairly wet ink. The dry nib I was using, with Very Peri running through it, wrote nicely. There is no feathering on Rhodia 80 gsm or cheap notebook paper. It dries at four seconds on both those papers. That's really fast on Rhodia. Candido Armijo: I was looking for a good and rich color of dark red ink, and I found this bottled ink called ox-blood manufactured by Thornton. I had never tried this color from Thornton, but I have been using there cartridges of black ink, and found it to be really good ink. So I decided to try this ox-blood from Thornton and it’s a dark reddish brown color which is very close to what I was looking for, and at a very good price. I recommend Thornton to anyone who wants good quality ink.
