Maxwell: The disc works just fine and there were no scratches.
As for the album itself- it is a certified banger. This is definitely Thom Yorke's best solo album.

Caldesjv: OK, so the only reason I docked a star on this is for the sleeve. It is rough cheap cardboard. Compared to every other LP in my collection this one is noticeably poor quality. That said, the album is fantastic. No noise that I can hear, and the songs are top notch. I've come to expect nothing but perfection from Thom Yorke and Radiohead, and that is exactly what I got. If you like the Kid A and Amnesiac era of Radiohead, that pretty similar to what you get here. I highly recommend this album. It's a shame the packaging isn't up to the same level as the record within.

Tony Bradley: I have been a massive fan of Radiohead from the beginning. Pablo honey was (is), a sketchy album. However, this album was a clear signpost to greater things. The rest is history as far as the band Radiohead go. Every subsequent album at least 9 out of 10. I knew Thom Yorke had released a 'solo' album. I decided to purchase this album very recently following excellent reviews on here at Amazon. I have listened to the album at least twice a day since the prompt delivery from the excellent music magpie. The eraser is as expected a 'difficult' Yorke/Radiohead album. This 'difficulty' is always a good sign with 'difficult' artists. I'm finally becoming acquainted with the lyrics, craftsmanship etc. The title track is brilliant. Thoms frail falsetto an absolute delight. Black swan is also an excellent track. This album is a (very) slow burner. Anyone reading this review who has interest in Radiohead, I implore you to add this CD to your collection. I'm really looking forward to getting right into this album. You music lovers will know what I mean by that! Thom Yorke you really are a fantastic talent, and so modest as well. Thom Yorke and Damon Alburn are the most talented British...

Beth Hollingshead: As far as solo albums go, this one from Thom Yorke is pretty good. I have to admit that the electronic music is not always my cup of tea, but with his vocals and incredible lyrics, Thom makes it work. My favorite off the album right now is Atoms for Peace. He has some achingly beautiful vocals on that track. What I love about Thom's lyrics is that the metaphors he uses are so simple, but so beautiful, and they make you go, "That's so Yorke!" For example, on Atoms, "Peel off all your layers, I want to eat your artichoke heart." See what I mean? And there's more just like it on Eraser. I could listen to almost the whole album and like it, but there are definitely four tracks that I truly enjoy: The Eraser, Black Swan, Atoms for Peace, and Harrowdown Hill. I remember first hearing Black Swan on the radio while I was driving my car at night, and I was totally hypnotized by Yorke's voice, the guitar work, and the lyrics themselves. I felt like at any moment I was going to start driving in this weird psychedelic world...an acid trip without the acid. So all in all, a good album...though the electronic stuff can get a little tedious if you're not that into it. However, I would still...

Idioteque: While being an electronic work, "The Eraser" s nothing like Kid A. The cold, expansive, soudscapes of Kid A are completely different from the rather claustrophobic and dark sound of Thom's solo release.
In fact I would probably liken this album's sound to be more akin to the electronic cuts off "Hail to the Theif". Some sounds, and thematic elements are eerily similar to songs like "Sit down, Stand Up", "Backdrifts", and "The Gloaming".
The album, while surprisingly short, is platform on which Thom is able to freely explore sound and rhythm. The result is a lyrically beautiful and sonically fascinating piece of work.
Too many reviewers have blasted Thom for not creating an album that is up to par with past Radiohead releases. While this is true to some extent; "The Eraser" is not a Radiohead album, however focusing on how each track off Eraser stacks up against Kid A, Amnesiac, or Hail to the Thief, is a futile waste of time.
The mere fact that an individual, Thom Yorke, a piece of the wonderfully intricate puzzle that is Radiohead, can put together an album of this dimension...by himself, speaks about how incredible an artist he is. Additionally, it...

bellini trice: in some ways this record reminds me so much of the way bjork talked about creating vespertine--it was just her and her computer in the kitchen late at night, making these amazingly beautiful songs. the eraser sounds a lot like it was done in much the same way.
i see a lot of people talking about how cold this record is; to me the eraser is deeply personal and vulnerable. some of the lyrics make me blush (atoms for peace) while others make me feel totally disturbed (skip divided) and that's a great thing.
thom's voice is the main instrument here and it's wonderful to hear that great falsetto again. his voice is just stunning. listen to this on headphones and you will be very pleased at the artful way in which it's mixed. my favorites are probably harrowdown hill, skip divided and atoms for peace, but the whole thing is just amazing. honestly, i can't praise it enough.
i think people are getting too caught up in 'what is this'--whether or not it's electronica or ambient or whatever--who cares? listen to it and enjoy it. whatever you want to call it, the eraser is very, very good stuff and the songs stay with you. it will definitely stay in heavy rotation on my...

annwiddecombe: this is the second album from thom a and thom b. The thoms were first heard properly on 'Kid A''. Previously 'a' had produced masterful 4 minute rock songs that set the uplifting/melancholic blueprint for every other band in the known universe. 'b' had done little up to that point, but noticed 'a''s increasing dissatisfaction with..well, what have you got??. 'Listen' said 'b' over a fair trade latte,
'here' s some Can, some Kraftwerk, some Aphex Twin, some Deep House...give 'em a spin'. 'a', smart cookie, knew that 'b' wasn't just a mad squirrel dancer with a nutter's hair cut. Together they put out 'Kid A' ('a'won the argument over the title) and blended 'a's melodic gift and 'choirboy on the verge of a nervous breakdown' voice with b's beats, loops and roars. Six years later, they're back. 'The Eraser'. 9 songs. Same mix - like lennon/mccartney but in one man. Listen for new influences - the Moroccan dirge like singing on 'Analyze', the Eastern guitar drones on 'The Clock' even a nod to a baggy Stone Roses' groove in the irresistible 'Black Swan' - a great single if it weren't for its radio unfriendly chorus. 'a' as usual hints at awful things, both personal and political...
