Isobel: We have an older home and I use these in several of the windows. They are easy to install and do a more than adequate job. Sturdy and seem to not distract from the window or the room’s decor.

Mazins: these are really great, easy to use, fairly sturdy. They fit inside the window (some of our windows have a little niche they can go in) then the window closes on it, keeping out bugs, and keeping the pets in the house (they aren't pushing really hard) .. NO this isn't an option for anyone on 2nd story or higher with LITTLE KIDS, this won't stay in the window if a child leans on it, but it does a great job of just being a screen.

DD: A little flimsy, the screen isn’t held very well but works for keeping bugs out and kitties in. One of the 3 I ordered arrived bent and with a small hole in the screen.

K. Exline: I bought these because I live in a rental with lots of damaged or missing screens. They're a good height and fit snugly into the window. (Disclaimer: Snug, but not catproof. I would not expect them to keep my cats inside if they weren't backed up by window bars.) They fit well enough to keep bugs out -- my neighborhood is riddled with tiger mosquitoes, and I didn't see any inside during the late-summer weeks when I used this screen.
The actual screen material is a relatively stout uncoated steel mesh. Not incredibly attractive, but more importantly, they're sturdier and more cat/dog/squirrel-resistant than my house's existing screens.
