Amazon Customer: I loved this book so much I read it in a week & wished there were more! Ryan has an amazing story & am so glad he shared it with the world! I am giving it to my son to read next in hopes that he’ll learn a little about bravery, courage, passion, & not giving up!

Shane O'Neal: I’m humbled by this first hand account of a service member’s journey from wild wanderer to a cocky “green” Green Beret to nearly having his career cut short by a devastating partial amputation that few people survive, much less return to active service from. The story of Ryan’s struggle to convince himself and his chain of command that he could continue to do the job of an 18C is candid, emotional and very real. His actions in the years after the injury are legendary. This story will resonate with anyone who has ever doubted their own inner strength, searched for a higher purpose or lost a brother-in-arms.

Mike: What a great read. Every time you think Ryan's story was over, and the rest of the book is about rehab and return to civilian life, something even more incredible would happen. An amazing story of courage and dedication to his profession.

Simone Sharp: It's taken me a couple of weeks to write a review on this book, not because it wasn't an incredible read, it was! Rather I have found it nearly impossible to find the words to do it justice. It's a story of one Soldiers courage and resilence in the face of a traumatic injury and his quest to return to active duty, a book so fraught with tension and peril that page after page you find yourself holding your breath for what comes next. It's a raw and gritty glimpse into a world most of us will never know, nor would we ever want to. I could not put it down, a couple of chapters in I was hooked. If you only read one book this year I implore you to make it this one, you will not be disappointed. 10/10

MacRankin: Who in their right mind would put their body through 20 months of gut-wrenching physical training?

Out of the original 400 peeps who took part in the Selection Class for 18Xs, 55 went on to the Qualification Course. Ryan Hendrickson was one of only 23 to make it out in one piece.

No one can tell you how to live your life, even if you think you've let yourself down at some point. There's no blueprint to living. The only thing you can do is to make an incremental change whenever you find one.

Well, that's what I thought before I read Ryan's book. Action aside—and there's plenty of that, Ryan Hendrickson's ’Tip of the Spear’ is an education in of itself. Maybe I'm too set in my ways to make a change for the better. But for anyone younger; you need to grab this 'book of life' with both hands.

Ryan Hendrickson is made of the stuff few will ever get close to, much less grasp. Pushing your body is one thing, but pushing against your ‘mind-barrier’ is something else entirely—with or without the kind of pain I can't even begin to imagine Ryan having gone through.

‘Mind-barrier’(?). The mind is a powerful thing. And as much as it's...

Energiesparfreund: Great book! Must read, if you would like to learn about the enormous resilience of a man & Special Forces (U. S. Green Beret) soldier! The author is highly focused on personally contributing to a right to live in peace for all human beings and works on ending terror and repression with his brothers in arms. Presently doing impressive things while demining and saving lives of civilians in Ukraine!

Bernice: This is an amazing book! It’s so well written, concise and descriptive that it takes you to places right along with the author. Reading it is like watching a movie - you are able to visualize and feel what is happening and experience a range of emotions. Incredibly gifted writer. A definite page-turner, you can’t guess what will happen next, but can’t wait to find out. Unimageable what this man has experienced, yet humility and unexpected humor shine through, along with determination, faith and hope. Impossible to read this book without being profoundly affected and inspired by his journey, bravery and authenticity, and for his willingness to share his experiences.

Kimmy chhabra: There are a lot of genres of books but sometimes you need to pick some specific to learn a particular aspect of life. Have you ever thought if you could read something with some incredible scenes, the perfect things so recently I came across the book.

📝Starting with the title of the story, the title is so joyful that makes your heart happy and for title I will certainly rate it 1/1. Cover of the novel is attractive and matches the plot of the story, you will get to know when you will read this one out.
A story that the author takes you from his early life, and his family moves through the various moves until he chooses to be part of the Navy. He then joined the Air Force twice after the Navy, marrying and divorcing, explaining each time his own deficiencies and marriage failures.

📝The book is incredible and motivating, it's difficult to sum it up but I'd love to share some of the book's important points that motivate you to read it. While rescuing an Afghan soldier on a fighting ground, it exploding during this battle while on IED caused him serious injuries. He was so brave that he kicked in to join the team after undergoing several operations and...

bushidojock: Flew thru 300 pages. This is such an easy read that flows and doesn’t have any boring chapters to worry about. I’d have read it faster it was so interesting if I wasn’t so busy last week. But it only took one week because I enjoyed this so much. Ryan is a great story teller, modest, authentic, humorous, and vulnerable just to name a few good qualities about this warrior. Guys like him make me proud to be an American.

This book should appeal to a wide variety of audiences young and old, and has a lot of life lessons in it to learn from. I can’t summarize them all but will mention a few.

Do you have a calling in life, an itch you can’t scratch but refuse to just settle and do a job for pay and benefits? Even if you experience setbacks, failure, and maybe make some personal mistakes along the way? This book has something for you seekers of a higher calling or vocation. Don’t give up. Keep exploring your options and be bold.

Grow up with some tough circumstances? Feeling sorry for yourself at times? Tempted to have the victim mindset and wallow in self-pity for not having ideal circumstances as a child, or maybe even experiencing some trauma that was...
