Cathy Glass will always be one of my favourite Authors and at this point I've read at least ten of her books. Are they hugely dramatic but also engaging and educational? Yes.

I'll always love Cathy and her books but does she need to speak negatively about social services everytime? And say (falsely) that they take away children? And in her newer books she's always bitter towards her ex-husband but claims there's no animosity there...

I really enjoyed Darcy-May and Haylea's tale, even if it was incredibly sad, and I read this one in a few days so it was exactly what I was in the mood for right now.

If you're interested in social care, pick these books up, and maybe start with this one.

rcb: This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and I enjoyed it as much as I would expect when reading about something as despicable as child abuse. I would recommend it and plan to order more by C. Glass.

Ellie: I enjoyed this book but felt it was a little unbelievable in some aspects. Cathy was the foster carer to the baby of a teen mother. Then she also came to foster that teenager! While Kaylea took a liking to , in fact, an obsession with Cathy's good-hearted kind ways. I don't feel that the social services would place a teen mom who was giving her child up for adoption in the same home. Kaylea would latch on to another carer who was kind just as easily- since while at Cathy's , she was totally ignoring her baby and this could not be healthy for either. Due to horrific abuse and the chance that the baby could be the product of incest, the situation was tense. Kaylea was stunted emotionally and socially and living with the baby would only harm her. As is, things finally worked out for all and Cathy, who sounded somewhat melancholic in this book, due to her dear mother's passing away and her son moving out to be married, produced an interesting book but lacking some of her usual realism. I also feel Cathy did way more than she should be expected to for Kaylea - that girl needed a carer with no other children or at least a less needy one, as it finally came about. What a horrible past...
