Mark G: I thoroughly enjoyed Clare’s openness and candor about quitting alcohol. She is funny, touching, vulnerable and honest. Her insights ring true with my experience as I explore life without a drink in hand. She’s the real deal and I’d like to thank her for putting this out there for people like me. Thanks Clare!

Nym: This book started off enjoyably enough, and at times it did offer interesting insights and nuggets of wisdom ('the obstacle course' analogy is great). I also do appreciate that not everyone fits that stereotypical image of the desperate alcoholic, and it's good to have books from the perspective of people that drink too much while appearing to hold things relatively together.
Unfortunately, overall I didn't enjoy the book, as the author's life is so privileged and unrelatable- living in her large West London home with three kids, not really having to work because of her husband's income, going to lunches and drinks receptions with royalty and other public figures. Even her boarding school education (where of course she was head girl) followed by Cambridge attendance.
All that is fine, everyone is entitled to their own life- but it's her downplaying of it that was so irritating. She constantly tried to sound more relatable e.g. almost apologetically justifying her purchase of a London flat in her twenties by saying it was much cheaper back then and her parents lent her the money (also a privilege...). The worst for me was when she spent thousands on a birthday party...

Elizabeth: I read this book at 3 months sober and it was more informative than any other literature and a ton of meetings. Pink cloud? So it's not just me that got giddy, then found a rough patch. I'm grateful to Clare for the education and the laughs.

Amazon Customer: Love this book, it is funny entertaining and also shares the dark moments of the fight with addiction. The struggle between being a mum, a wife and a professional and how social drinking can quickly move into the problem drinking zone. If you know you have a few more wines than you should then this book is for you

Mrs Y L Parmentier: I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Spber Diaries and would recommend it to everyone.
It was full of advise and research that I’m sure helps lots of women feeling that they need to limit their drinking. It was also amusing at times with all her stories of when she was younger and the pranks she got up to.
