Karen Jones: The media could not be loaded.  I initially purchase the Smonet deadbolt fingerprint lock April 2021. I am a caregiver for my Mom who is suffering from Alzheimer’s dementia and I needed a lock that would alllow access to CNA, Aids, physical therapist and family members without needing to pass out a bunch of keys. I solely rely on the fingerprint because of my situation. The best thing about the fingerprint option is that you can add and delete prints in seconds. The app is easy to use and understand. The initially installation and app setup took about 35 minutes.

It is now 2023, and my Smonet lock suddenly stopped locking and opening. :( I contacted Smonet which was initially frustrating because I am a baby boomer who is used to calling costumer services and talking to a live person. However, Smonet replies to you through via email which frustrated me because I have 24k emails so I thought they didn’t rely at first, so I contacted Amazon and waited until I got a reply from Smonet via email.

Worked well for the first 4 months. Now the lock will drain very good alkaline batteries in 3 days without even using the lock. Very poor customer service and no really good means to contact. Still waiting....

RM: Installation was easy but the striker plate was too small to replace my existing one. Kept the existing plate it works. Does not cover as much area on the door outside as inside. It should not have been a problem but when I removed the old electronic lock discovered previous installer put a hole in the door which is not covered.

J&G: I bought the lock for my patio access door. Installation was easy until I hit a snag. The small cable that connects the front keypad to the inside part white the battery pack was defective. If routed through the small round hole as indicated in the instructions it bends so much that when the inside part is bolted together it losses power. I tried putting it together many ways without success. I reached out to customer service and they were super responsive and I guess this is a known issue as they sent me a replacement unit right away. I found that if the cable is routed through the higher part of the mounting plate it does not bend as much and works fine. Now is all working ok and so far it’s been two weeks working without issues. Overall very happy with the lock and very impressed with the level of customer service.

My lock stopped working a few months later and the customer service was amazing. They explained how to reset my lock and how to troubleshoot, after none of that worked they sent me out a replacement lock at no charge. The customer service has been staying in touch to make sure the new one was working,which it's working great. It was an easy process and friendly service.

Guy Marquis: Be careful to install this lock following every step of the instructions.
There is a cotter pin you must not forget to install. Found that the hard way as the lock was working for a while and then stopped working a few weeks later, despite the lock telling you it's unlocked.
Even the mechanical key wouldn't let you in if the internal squared shape bar has disengaged from the keypad side of the lock. The cotter pin is there to hold it in place.
Smonet was really quick at helping me figure out the problem and it is now fixed. You have to go on their website to get support. Much faster (they typically answer within 24 hours).

One thing worth noting (it's already in the description but sometimes people miss that one) is that you have to drill an extra small hole through your door to install this lock. Which is not a big deal if you plan to keep this lock forever. But if you later change for another type of lock that doesn't use or cover this hole, you will be in for some cosmetic repairs.

Btw, I read that someone has taken 5 hours to install this lock.
Plan for an hour, taking your time, not that complicated.

Ultrahawkeye: Overall we are quite satisfied with this locking handle.

We purchased this lock in January 2021. The installation was straightforward. I'm a carpenter by trade and have installed hundreds of door handles and other than having to drill a new hole for mounting it, there was no issue. The instructions in that regard were sufficient.

Connecting the lock with the phone app was simple and the lock functioned properly as advertised.

We used the lock for about a month using the fingerprint sensor and that function has been somewhat hit and miss. My print worked almost every time while my wife was frustrated that hers had to be done again and then it would only function occasionally. If the fingerprint was put in again it would work ok but not all the time.

The IC scanner worked every time. The keypad entry didn't seem to work properly but with the IC card working I didn't bother with the others.

However, the mechanism began sticking about the end of the month and would actually stick open. I contacted customer support and that was a little confusing. However, once I was able to contact customer support, help was immediate and the sent a new latch system...
