Larry Starr: Since I read all the Killing Series , this one was just as good. The difference is the different information that I didn’t learn in history class. Ike was always depicted as a great leader and the architect of a fair and balanced end to the war. However, he was bullied and outwitted by the ruthless Stalin to the point that he destroyed Patton. I kept thinking will we make the same mistake with Putin and let him take Ukraine and Eastern Europe like Statin. Great informative read!

Wachkatze: I have suspected for years that General Patton did not die from an "accident," as the government reports go. I truly believe our own people had him killed. George was very outspoken, and he knew that in time the Russians would become a serious menace - and he said so, loudly and clearly. George did not care much for politics- he was leader, a commander, a winner, and people listened to him. He was truly a visionary who knew the score and spoke his mind. The truth is rarely what politicians want to hear, and what he was saying did not fit the prevailing political climate. Because of this, he was feared and was perceived as a threat to the goals of certain politicians and military commanders. This books offers compelling evidence that he was murdered for political reasons. This well-documented book is the best source material I have ever seen on this matter. I wont go into specifics, as you need to read this for yourself. It is well worth the money.

The TANKMEN by Gregory: After reading this excellent book i have come to the conclusion that
Patton was indeed gotten rid of.whoever by who is left by your own
Imagination. This is an excellent read for anyone interested in Patton

Mr. DL Griffiths: Loved the book. Dived straight in to Pattons War from around 1944 onwards. However, if you put together what was actually written about Patton, then it probably took only half the book (or less) interspaces with facts about the campaigns from Sicily to the crossing of the Rhine. I found it a great read and couldn’t put it down. A bit more about the Generals life would have been great, but nevertheless, I enjoyed it. Has made me want to search for the 70’s films Patton and Brass Target.

G. David Thayer: Book Review: Killing Patton: The Strange Death of World War II’s Most Audacious General, Bill O’Reilly & Martin Dugard

This is another superbly written book by the O’Reilly–Dugard duo. In my opinion, it is the second-best read in the “Killing” series. This is not faint praise, for all of the books in this series have sold in the millions of copies and been on every best-sellers list.

The story is primarily about Lieutenant General George S. Patton, easily both the most ferocious and audacious general of World War Two. There is also background material on all of the major players in that conflict, including generals Dwight Eisenhower and Omar Bradley; British Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery; German Field Marshall Erwin Rommel—the only general in the war whom Patton considers his equal, with the possible exception of Eisenhower—and of course Adolph Hitler, Josef Stalin, Winston Churchill, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the heads of state in the European Theater of the war.

The book is replete with details of the war in Europe. Unless you have studied that war in great detail, you will learn many things you probably did not know...

Peggy Oldfield: No one can deny that General George Patton, "old blood and guts", was one of the most unorthodox yet successful military strategists of the Second World War. When not slapping young soldiers and calling them cowards, he was running rings around the German Army and driving further into the Nazi-occupied territory than any other Allied general. But, as this book shows us, at war's end, Patton was still upsetting his bosses by making nasty comments about the Russians and suggesting that America should now go to war with the Soviet Union. Bill O'Reilly suggests with some very strong evidence that Patton was done away with because he was becoming an embarrassment to Eisenhower and the Allied cause. Whether you agree or disagree with O'Reilly's findings, you will not be bored with this book. It is very well researched and leads one to ponder some very disturbing questions.

Wayne Page: Along with Killing Kennedy and Killing Lincoln the book is a page turner. At the end if in fact Patton was killed by assassination who had the most to gain? Eisenhower, perhaps he was concerned Patton would receive more recognition for his military exploits than he would. Was Eisenhower smart enough to carry it out, no based on his performance lack of judgement. The most likely candidate is Donovan but he was being pushed out by Truman. Would history have changed if Patton had not been taken out? Would Eisenhower been elected President or would Patton bring out the dirty laundry?

We will never know, but still an excellent book.

USAF Veteran: I thoroughly enjoyed this well written recounting of Patton and the end of WWII. For those who don't know, Patton was demoted and ignored by less-competent Generals who took the credit for Patton's accomplishments and then removed Patton from active duty at the end of the war. After a number of unexplained near-fatal events, Patton died after being hospitalized after a suspicious car accident. Like Lincoln in a previous book by these authors, Patton had a lot of unexplained coincidences that can only be called conspiratorial.

If you've read these author's  Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination that Changed America Forever  you will find this book fairly similar in style and content. The authors give interesting, short vignettes, often little known, that mount up to the death of the main figure of the book. This book has a number of heroic figures in it.

This book also notes the failures of others around Patton starting with Presidents Roosevelt and Truman on down. If you are only a casual student of history, you will be shocked at the blunders and downright idiotic, harmful and unamerican things done by Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Marshall and...

dpilot: I was five years old when World War II erupted and I still remember many experiences that related to the war in the small city where I lived. I went on later to join the Royal Canadian Air Force and one of the highlights of my service was to fly the P 51 Mustang fighter that played such a role in the latter months of the war. At age 21 that was a thrill. Consequently I've had a lot of interest in the history of that period. I knew in general terms much of what had gone, but the book fills in a lot of details, including surprises, that I found very enlightening. Detailing the personalities, the egos, the bloodletting that went on with both sides, the tragedy of war, all are dealt with in O'Reilly's book.

Obviously there's been a lot of research done with this project and I am presuming that Martin Dugard did most of the research and Bill O'Reilly did most of the writing. The narrative took me and completely involved me in what I was on the pages. When I was reading the part about the Battle of the Bulge when Patton was struggling to relieve the troops in Bastogne, relating stories of heroism and despair, I was so into it that I teared up. You can count on one hand the number...
