Laura: I enjoyed this historic fictional novel however, I just did not feel the relationship between the protagonist and Max. It just felt super rushed and forced. The ending also seemed rushed… Like tying up everything in the last chapter was a little much for me. I’m not unhappy that I read the book, but it wasn’t my favorite historical fiction, simply because I wasn’t fully invested in the characters.
