Bob Penn: I initially purchased "The Daily Ukulele" and was very pleased with all of the songs. I think I recognized about 80 to 90 percent of the songs in the book. That lead me to purchase the "Leap Year" edition. It also has a lot of good music in it. Depending on your age, you may recognize a lot more of the music than I.

I liked the comb binding of the book. This makes for easy turning of pages and allows the book to lay flat on your music stand or table top.

The front section of the book essentially duplicates the front section of the first book. It provides basics of ukulele tuning, strumming, chords, techniques, etc.

Like it predecessor, it has the basic chord fingering diagrams at the top of each song. The melody and words are provided with each song. The chord names are printed above the music staff as appropriate.

With the two books, I have more music than I will ever need or want. Both are a good investment.

Jill Goldman: this is the second daily ukulele book i got, and to be honest, so far, i still use the earlier version more often, because it has more of the types of songs i need for the senior population i sing for, but this one has a lot of fun songs, and more of them are a bit more current, so i'm sure it will be more popular for certain crowds. in any case, the chords are clearly marked and if you need a little help with them, they are displayed at the top. great variety. lots of fun!

Altivo: Like the original, this sequel is a large collection of popular and standard songs, annotated for ukulele accompaniment and vocals. The work that went into selection is massive, and the results are good. The earliest I noticed as I read through was from 1929, and the most recent from about 1999 I think. That's quite a span of coverage. The keys have been adjusted to promote relatively easy play on the ukulele without pushing the singer to extreme ranges. This in itself is masterful work. Fonts and music a large and clear to read. The book weighs more than two pounds (about a kilogram) and has a plastic comb binding so it will lay flat, which is always nice. However, the comb is a tad too tight for so many pages, and a well used book is probably going to come loose at some point in the future. Anyway, glad to have this available and I'm sure it will be useful. Reading full lyrics for some of these that I only remember vaguely from my childhood was sometimes hilarious.

Robert A. Zimmerman: Das erstaunlich großformatige und dicke Buch (etwas größer als DIN A4, mehr als 400 Seiten) enthält exakt 365 Songs, somit könnte an jedem Tag eines Jahres ein neues Lied gespielt/gelernt werden.

Die Songauswahl ist eine bunte Mischung, es sind allerdings recht viele Songs dabei, die hier in Deutschland vielleicht nicht so geläufig sind. Da bei diesem Artikel "Blick ins Buch" aktiviert ist – dies sollte bei Noten übrigens Standard werden, liebe Verleger! – findet man dort im Inhaltsverzeichnis auch eine Auflistung aller Songs.

Es handelt sich um ein sogenanntes "Fake-Book", d. h. es sind die Texte, Noten der Melodie und Akkordsymbole enthalten. Es gibt jedoch zu Beginn des Buches jedoch kurze Informationen zu allen Songs, bei einigen sind auch zusätzliche Tabulaturen zu finden, die beispielsweise eine markante Begleitung enthalten, die für den jeweiligen Song typisch ist. Als Beispiel sei hier "And I love her" von den Beatles angegeben ...

Alles Lieder sind so platziert, dass man beim Spielen eines Liedes nicht umblättern muss, was sehr erfreulich ist. Erfreulich ebenfalls, dass das Buch eine Spiralbindung aufweist und somit aufgeschlagene Seiten...

Northwest Dad: Another great collection of songs! Was pleasantly surprised at the list offered. There are some very easy songs with only 2-3 simple cords, while there's also some intermediate songs that offer a good challenge for beginners. All have a list of the song's cords in tab visuals at the top, then each cord letter is listed above the measures as you play to indicate where you transition. As a beginner, I will also draw my own tabs next to each letter cord throughout the song so it's an easy visual vs. having to memorize each fingering. This advances my ability to play a song right away - even the first time through, which motivates me to play more. It also speeds up my memorizing of certain cords. Words also included, so great for a sing-along. Overall, the book has a great layout. Since the melody notes are in the measures, so you could even use this for other instruments if desired. I bought this after owning the original Daily Ukulele book for a year, and it's a great companion. Either book by themselves are great, but if you want more, then get both!
