ohmyhellohi: I knew it was going to be a good book but I didn’t expect it to be as good as it is. The pictures are simple but clear. The directions are easy and it’s a good beginner to intermediate cookbook.

Al Pilato: As a chef i highly recommend this book to anyone who either wants to learn from a reliable source or someone who simply wished to advance their skills. All recipes are triple tested and the step by step illustrations will guide you from beginners to end on each.

Anthony Ragan: Blue Apron is a company that sends “meals in a box”: prepped ingredients and detailed instructions delivered weekly to your door, ready for you to finish on the stove or oven. I don’t subscribe to their service, but their menus looked intriguing enough that, when I saw they had a cookbook, I decided to give it a try.
As a self-taught cook, I need a lot of hand-holding – step by step instructions, lots of pictures of what things should look like at each stage of the process, and clear notes about what kind of equipment is needed. The Blue Apron Cookbook does all that, and I happily recommend it, especially to beginner-level home chefs like me who want to make fancier looking (but still easy) meals.
There’s the usual chapter on stocking your kitchen (equipment and staples), and thankfully it tells you something I wish more cookbooks did: define what a “medium” this or a “large” that really means. It’s annoying when a recipe says “use a medium pot” and you’re left wondering “okay, does your ‘medium” mean my ‘medium?’” So, points earned, here.
Recipes are divided into chapters both by type of methods (e.g., braises and roasts) and by type...

BossaloverBossalover: I have been using Blue Apron for over a year now. Aside from the convenience, what really keeps me coming back to Blue Apron is its simple and easy but flavorful recipes which are developed by the chefs who graduated from Culinary Institute of America.
Just to try out if this book also pleases my tastebuds, I followed two recipes (one fish and one meat) from the cookbook. The first dish I made was "Shallow Poached Fish with Fragrant Vegetable". All I needed to do was to heat up spices in the oil, cook veggies and tomato paste, add white wine, add a white fish, and cover with a baking paper to cook. In less than 30 mins or so, the dish was ready at a table. The broth which was made from the veggies and fish was very flavorful and my husband and I cleaned the last bit of meal with a baguette. The second dish I tried was "Roasted chicken and veggies in a pot". It was again a very simple recipe, although it took about an hour in total. Sear chicken, cook veggies, add white wine and some herb, and put them in the oven. The dish was very flavorful and the broth was just amazing. We again cleaned the plate with some bread.
The way Blue Apron presents the recipe is very well...

Robert James Vandevoort (Show Low, Arizona): The Blue Apron Cookbook, which was released this month, is a very impressive cookbook. Typically, I like cookbooks focused on a particular cuisine, such as Italian or Japanese, but this one has 165 recipes covering just about everything. There are 2-3 pages for each recipe with easy to follow instructions and photographs taking one through the prepping process to how the dish should look when finished.
It begins with some basic knowledge, such as what are the essential tools for your kitchen, as well as knives, pots and pans. It moves on via photographs showing basic prep skills such as coarsely chopped to finely chopped. If you had only one cookbook in your kitchen, this is the one.
