Rhonda Jones: I loved reading about archeologists trying to gain access to a Scottsman's castle and heritage. Not an easy task. Then some murders occur. Lennox is called in to help prior Scotland Yard Detective Swift. Swift was a tad rude to Lennox, treating him like an underling. But Lennox stood up for himself. And I can understand Swift being a bit anxious with his new wife pregnant and strangers and murders plaguing them. Lennox is brilliant with his analytical mind. He looks at clues and has a miraculous ability to piece together what happened. I like Lennox, he is calm in a storm and shy around the ladies. This book had a fascinating mystery. I enjoyed it tremendously.

Gabbee: I rarely read book from to cover. I read the first third or perhaps half. Then it usually becomes boring with interviews of all in involved. Description of architecture and flora and fawna. I skip to the end find out who done it. Everything in this book was gracefully described. The characters were deftly portrayed. The conclusion was sad and touching. Well done.

Sue: The characters in this series are very complex and interesting. Some of the interactions, dialog, and situations are extremely funny and yet this is a mystery which definitely needs solving. The main character, Lennox, is very cleverly drawn & completely unlike his hero, Sherlock Holmes. Lennox is an accidental detective who read some Sherlock books to learn how to detect. I am having a marvelous time immersing into this series.

Texanne: I really like this series.
Heathcliff Lennox is a former flier in the War to End All Wars. He does not ever want to be called Heathcliff...his mother was reading a novel when she chose that name.
He is a member of the “aristocracy”. Actually, that means nothing to him. He cares about hunting. He cares about his dog Mr Fogg. He cares about his Bentley. Those are about the only things which really hold his interest.
Unless, he is in the midst of doing some detecting. That has held his interest recently. At Christmas, he was accused of murder. In order to prevent himself from being hung, he felt he had to solve the mystery.
He likes to think of himself as a sort of Sherlock Holmes. He isn’t.
He has now been asked to visit the home of a family of very old friends of his family. The Brigadier is retired and living in the past, but Lennox has respect and affection for him. Caroline, the daughter of the house, is about to be married to an American. Lennox and Caroline have known one another since they were very young. She and her father both want him at the wedding.
Lennox would love to avoid the wedding, but an old friend has called to tell...
