Ron Ferguson: An informative break down of human anatomy for artists. This is my second copy.

Amazon Customer:
This book has a lot of very detailed illustrations and descriptions of every bone and muscle you could think of that are great for use as reference. If you already know the basics of figure drawing, this will help you take things to another level by expanding your knowledge of the human form. That being said, this book is dated in some pretty unfortunate ways.
For example, most of this book seems to be focused on the male figure. There is some stuff towards the end of the book regarding the female form, and most of the muscles and bones are applicable to men and women, but the lack of variety is a little tiring. Another thing that's weird about this book is the short section towards the end that describes "racial differences" and uses some very out-dated language. It doesn't say anything outright offensive (but definitely incorrect) and actually seems to be pretty respectful, only focusing on the aesthetic differences between different people. That's not to say it isn't inaccurate and borderline offensive, but I'm trying to give the book the benefit of the doubt considering it was published in 1951.
Overall, I'd recommend this book, especially for the...

Ryan P Bell: This is a must for artists that don't have the money to shell out for the Smith Micro Poser software and for those who want to study just about every facet of human anatomy. For 12 bucks this book can't be beat. You should already have some grasp of how to draw when picking up this book, but tips and images of drawing for given poses are featured to showcase the anatomy at work. This book is primarily geared towards those who love to draw and want to improve the accuracy and quality of their work. It is no secret to get better at something you have to do it a lot, and you have to study a lot. This book is a great starting tool for those who want to had down the path of producing quality drawings as opposed to disproportioned messes and clocking in at 265 pages, this is a beast of a manual to take in and learn. But if you can dedicate the time, you will see the results and become a more knowledgeable and efficient artist. If you are that aspiring artist that wants to get better, save yourself a few thousand dollars on art school and software. Grab a pencil and paper, get comfortable, crack open this book and get to work. You won't regret it. Time is on your side,...
