samdrucker: They seem sturdy and function smoothly. The only complaint is the pads are hard plastic and slip some. The clamps are slightly better than the ones from the big box discount tool store. If your close to one just go get those and save some time.

John Bronder: I use this as a brake pedal depressor on semi trucks. The rod is pretty strong and doesn't bend and the red grippers are good enough to stay in place. My only complaint is the release button feels very cheap. That little red button feels very loose and brittle. That being said, it's a tool that does the job.

Ebby: Bought a pair of the 36" clamps to assist with cabinet assembly. So far was a project saver and now realizing I need four. Came back here to buy another pair and figured maybe I'd get Irwin instead. Then I found out these are half the price of Irwin's 36" clamp. Fair enough. I'm ordering another pair of these less expensive ones.

Here's what you lose for the price - cheaper construction, button clamp release is difficult to push and feels like it might break, clamping pads are half the size (might be a benefit if you are working in a tight space). All that said, our use is incidental for this one project. I'd rather have twice as many cheap ones than half as many nice ones.

These are working out just fine for us.

Dave: I use the clamps as spreaders to brace and straighten deck boards before fixing them in place. Bracing over a 55cm gap caused the bar to bow before the board had straightened. A heavier duty bar would be better on long clamps. Fair value for money. Product mechanics are of reasonable quality.

William Kingston: The clamps came as ordered and in good condition. Clamps hold v.securely and do not slip or slack off after applied. The one negative I found was the release button is difficult to depress when removing the clamp. The solution I found was to add more clamp pressure and depress button at same time, then it releases just fine. It may just need to be broken in or a little wear on the button over time may make it easier to operate. I tried some silicone oil, but not much improvement. Hey for the price you can't expect perfection.

Sincerely, the work as well as other bar clamps I already have at home, at a fraction of the price. It's well built and feels solid in hand...will recommend for light to medium task without any problem. It can easily create enough pressure.

Description state it came with soft jaws pads so you could be expecting kind of rubber pads, but it's a standard plastic removable pad. Quick release button feels a bit flimsy and is sometimes hard to operate when a lot of pressure is applied.

Overall, I'm very satisfied, especially at that price! Would recommend any day for the occasional handyman!

J. G. K.: Other people have complained about this clamp... near as I could tell, they either didn't read the description, or the description has been updated. It was exactly what I was expecting... a bar clamp with a 6" opening and 1.5" depth. If you don't know how big that is, get out a ruler.

You will not be building a tree house or a dining room table with this clamp. If you want to build bird houses or pen holders, it might be perfect. I got it to hold electrical contacts on to the end of cell phone and camera lithium ion batteries. I might get some use out of it for leather work.

As mentioned above, I've mostly been using this clamp to hold wires onto oddly-shaped batteries for charging. With a good lithium-ion charger, I'm able to charge and test all sorts of proprietary batteries (cell phone, camera, etc.)... but only if I can get the leads to stay in contact with the terminals! What I'm saying is that it got pretty light use (don't want to crush Li-Ion batteries!).

Well, something has happened over the 8 months since I bought it... a few weeks ago, I reversed the head to use it as a spreader (so I could apply pressure for 24hrs to a VHB adhesive...
