Michael Fenton: I use it for making caramel. I love the clip because I can set it it at any height I need. This is a wonderful thermometer for a great price.

taylor: so I guess I didn't bother to read the size measurements because this thing is HUGE. it still does its job though, so I can't complain.

Southern Charmer: Not sure how accurate it is. I bought this thermometer because the thermometer that came with with my deep fryer seemed to be off because when I last fried a turkey it wasn't cooked completely in the allotted time even though I've fried dozens of turkeys over the years. Anyway, I fried a turkey today and I used this thermometer and the old one. At first there was about a 25 degree difference and it the difference got larger as the oil heated up. When this thermometer read 350 the other one read 400. I figured that was the problem, but in seconds it jumped up 50 degrees, to show a higher temperature than the other thermometer. I cannot recommend this gauge because of the sudden jump in temperature.

Brian Nakonechny: I ordered this because it should have been 9 inches long it turned out to be 12 inches long not a good thing but I will keep it

Jean Giel: The display of this thermometer is easy to read. The thermometer is described as being 9 inches long; it is actually 12 inches. The length makes it top-heavy and unstable when clipped to the side of a pot unless the pot is very tall.

Mrs. Jay: I bought this product primarily because it said it was a candy thermometer. It absolutely wasn't. The main packaging stated it was for deep frying, but there was a second smaller sticker made by whatever company had decided that it could be used for candy that was stuck on it. It was advertised on Amazon as a deep fryer/candy thermometer. We almost burned our maple syrup waiting for it to get hot enough for laying on ice.
