Vernon Jewell: I added this to my gear because of the DoorDash requirements for photos. It has worked great. The arm collapsed downward once with my camera on it, but that was because I didn't ensure that it was properly secured. My only complaint is, I wish I could extend the arm a little further to reach the center of the table. It has been able captured the 90º angle for food photography, that I was hoping for.

I'm using the arm to mount a DSLR for copying transparencies over a light table. The long arm is ideal so that the camera sits comfortable away from the tripod and balanced beautifully by its included sandbag -- which is well made. I think this item is a bargain for its price.

Alexander Kirillov: This tripod is great for travel. I used it with Nikon D3500 with Tamron Di II VC HLD 18-400mm lens which is pretty heavy. Had no problems securing it with this tripod. Only downside that it gets a bit shaky when fully extended in high winds, but so probably do others. Adjustments are easy and ability to shoot panoramic photos are is a great add-on. No problem taking as carry-on to the plane. No questions asked during security checks at the airports. Works great with Tarion backpack that has a folding pocket and a strap to allow carrying it on the side.

Eric: I bought this to mount a spotting scope or binoculars for hunting. The head on this unit is perfect for that. My photographer girlfriend says the tripod isn't super sturdy but for glassing on uneven terrain and constantly panning/scanning with the head, I think it will suffice. All the parts feel sturdy and there is no play at the joint/connections. Some of the hinge parts are plastic but they look durable. It's quick and fun to deploy. I haven't used it in the field just yet but overall very happy with the tripod.

Critical Dave: I have tried 3 different tripod extensions, this one works.

The arm is a bit short and the approx 1 inch diameter tubing is a little spindly but these are minor complaints.

This tripod extension is superior to it's competition because it has clamps that are precision manufactured and they work like they should.

Further thoughts: The end that secures the camera head has grub screws so that the head can be locked in place and wont un screw it's self when performing a pan. Also the clamp that adjusts the tilt axis has teeth so when it is secured it stays put and doesn't slowly nod down like the other brands. The best part of this extension is the clamp that secures the horizontal tube. This clamp has a quick release lever and the lock tension can be adjusted with a hex key. This is the only tripod extension in this price range that will hold my Youtube rig upright. All other products failed because they allow the horizontal arm to rotate so my camera slowly pivots upside down like the second hand on a clock.

Papoo TechPapoo Tech: Generally an excellent piece of kit that does what I need - top down table shots using my Z6. The extension itself is well built and there was no problem adding it to my own tripod or attaching the camera. Feels sturdy. All the latches and controls are easy to use to adjust the angle or length of the arm - though they are limited by the length of the arm itself. There is one weak spot which is why only 4 stars. It comes with a decent enough sand bag pack and carabiner, and this is meant to be clipped onto the hook at the rear of the arm. The hook can be pulled out to add the carabiner and it also rotates. When the bag is attached empty there is no problem but when the bag is weighted the hook rotates 180 and the carabiner can slide off. Given there may be expensive camera equipment on the other end this is worth keeping an eye on! That aside though, excellent piece of kit - in the photos attached the tripod legs are resting against my dual monitor stand and therefore I do not need to weight the sandbag.

AKMonkey: This is a very capable tripod for photography and spotting scope use. I've used mine for both and I have no complaints.

The ball head is easy to use and able to handle a heavy SLR camera just fine. It isn't as smooth as a high-end Manfrotto, but this is a mid- to lower-price tripod.

The tripod has enough weight to provide a workable platform for most of the short- to mid-length lenses that I use. For a large-objective long lens you will probably want something more substantial.

I do have lighter weight tripods that I use when I am hunting or backpacking. Those lighter tripods are not as steady as this one unless I hang weight from the center post, but they collapse shorter and weigh less so they are easier to carry.

This tripod is really a compromise between the heavy pro-grade models that you don't want to carry very far and the ultra-lightweight field models designed to be carried in a pack. I've used this one for mounting a spotting scope or camera at my house, and for mobile photo shoots where I had to transport gear to and from the car but didn't have to hike very far with it. It's really good for applications like that.
