Cilla: I loved the combination of Robin Hood and Bluebeard in this tale. Lots of twists, and really enjoyed the crossovers with The Stolen Bride.

Kate: Robin is arrogant and cocky, and she and Duke Guy have a strong rivalry between them. Each totally misjudges the other. Great retelling of the Bluebeard fairytale, and with a more satisfying ending. And I still love Meg and Basil!

Pittman Crew: Very engaging, witty, and fun read! The novel does have a fun world built with nods to characters you definitely want to read about more. The heroine is fun but per my personal taste is lacking softness. It doesn’t take anything away from the story but I wish she had less of chasing thrill to the end and that’s it personality.

One Last Petal Books: This is the third instalment of this series and I think my favourite so far. It’s my first time reading anything by Tara Grayce, and I’m definitely eager to read more.
Robin and her brothers live in the forest, raiding the shipments of taxes any time they can. Duke Guy Gysborn has a brutal reputation for raising taxes - and murdering his wives. When the Hood learns that Gysborn is looking for a new wife, she plans the ultimate heist. She’ll marry him and when he tries to kill her, she’ll beat him to it and make off with his gold as a wealthy widow.
She just didn’t expect to start falling in love with Duke Bluebeard.
I loved Robin. She’s a daredevil, but has the uncanny ability to make her risks pay off. Her relationship with her brothers is well developed. There were so many nods back to the familiar Robin Hood tale that made my heart happy.
This is definitely a clean retelling, but there is one kiss that might make you blush. Or maybe that’s just because I couldn’t help picturing Richard Armitage as Guy Gysborn…

Shelved Thoughts: Reader’s Notes:
– this is a part of a series but is read as a stand-alone
– this is told from Robin’s point of view
– there is a scene described with blood and death (due to the Bluebeard part of the story)
– there is a hanging that ends when the heroine escapes the noose
Review:
This was a great mix of Robin Hood and Bluebeard! I really enjoyed Robin Hood as a woman and her merry band being her brothers! It added a touch of humor with the sibling ribbing and Robin watching her brothers/including them in her plans. It was also interesting to try and figure out who Guy really was and if he was as good as he seemed or if it was all a front he put up for Robin. I was surprised by the ending that revealed the true villain and how Tara Grayce made it fit in with the two tales. Surprised, but I really liked it! I also enjoyed seeing her main characters from Stolen Midsummer Bride make an appearance at the very end of the book.
Despite all their robbing the rich to give to the poor, Robin and her brothers are unable to keep up with the taxes being imposed on the villagers. So when she hears the duke is searching for another...

Michelle Menezes: A gender-swapped Robin Hood character, plus Bluebeard as the villain, equals a mind-blowing story that keeps me awake till 2 a.m. I couldn't put it down and even after it was over, I was craving for more.
This is one of those books that has your heart pounding till the end, you're sweating, your eyes are bulging out and every moment is intense. I've read a few books by the author before, and I had very high expectations for this one; she didn't disappoint.
The characters were amazing! Robin is obviously the best. I liked her confidence and devil may care attitude, which is something I've rarely come across in female characters. I would have loved to see more of her brothers; they were very supportive and cool. I liked that this book did not have the "you can't do this because you're a woman" kind of thinking. No one ever underestimated Robin's abilities or tried to control her in the name of protection.
The author took the plot of two different books and combined it flawlessly. I had guessed the truth a bit early on, but that in no way diminished the effect of the revelation.
The romance was slow-burn, just the way I like it. The characters took their...

Selina: I'll admit I often struggle with novellas, so I feel a little torn on what to rate this, because it's in its nature to be short. I ended up going ahead and rounding up to five stars, vut I did feel like the romance/friendship stretched believability a bit by being so short. It kind of seemed like "oh, Guy saved a puppy and didn't let the villagers all die in a flood and he looks really attractive when shooting a bow" and she fell for him...although at least it's not "true love" or even really full love right away. I feel like the denouement, bonus short, and bonus epilogue were the strongest parts of the story, emotionally and romance-wise, and got the most smiles and laughs from me. The story itself is pretty predictable--I only had one scene where I really had any feeling of "what will happen 😮" and it wasn't even in the climax--but it's predictable in a "you know what you're getting and get it and are satisfied" sort of way, although I feel like Robin missed some obvious hints...but she was brash and sure enough of herself that it mostly made sense she would overlook the pieces that didn't fit her perspective. Speaking of which, Robin is a very fun heroine. And I enjoyed...

Kita: I really liked this book, which is the first I have read by this author. It was fun, filled with danger, and just a hint of spice that did not overdo it. The only quibble I have is that sometimes the Robin character was over-the-top and could have been toned down and still been the same character we fall in love with. I will definitely be reading more but this author, especially the books based in this world!
