Nic: I have a loving relationship with my three rescue dogs. After reading and applying the techniques in this book we now enjoy a deeper connection and have more fun together.
I also gave this book as a gift to a new dog owner, and they said they enjoyed it too.
I highly recommend this book to all dog owners.

Joanne S.: I already own this book but it's packed and I want to prepare for another dog, so I purchased it again. I used this method to train my Bichon Poodle, Max, at 6 months. It worked like a charm and is all about positive, loving training. Max went to the Rainbow Bridge on 2/8/21 at 14 years of age. I highly recommend this book and training methodology.

The author is from Israel and while serving in the IDF she was stationed in the desert where she observed a pack of wolves. She learned much from their behavior and it provided the basis of her training methods. She moved to Los Angeles, opened the first doggie day care and began training dogs. She wound up training dogs for many famous people, as well. She's awesome!

Patricia SelbyPatricia Selby: I used this book to help me train my beautiful German Shepherd 13 years ago. Se was obedient and well mannered after she was trained. It is now time to get a new puppy so I am going to use the methods taught in this book; once again!

ScottG: Good book but parts of the text are underlined in pen as though someone else read it first and I got their return.

Alithia Gallegos: The concepts conveyed in The Loved Dog are essential for all dog owners. And the book is an absolute joy to read. Tamar has become the voice for the voiceless (our beloved dogs). She goes way beyond the basics of teaching your dog how to sit and dives into the very nature of what it's like to be our four-legged furry "kids". Her loving, non-violent and powerful methods are a paradigm shift for the dog training industry. They speak right to my heart for how a relationship with our dogs should have always been - based in love and not fear or violence. By reading this book and applying Tamar's Loved Dog method you will experience a deep and lasting bond with your dog that will stand the test of time. As Tamar puts it, "...you and your dog will smile at each other every single day and ask yourselves, 'How did I get so lucky?'" Do yourself, and your dog, a favor and get a copy of this book today. You will love it. And your dog will love YOU for it!

Janice Irvine: Insightful. The author gives the reader helpful strategies to build a stronger more trusting bond with their dog. Will incorporate many of her ideas into my own training plan

Vanessa: This book completely changed how I interact with my dogs. I want everyone in the world to read this book and treat their dogs better. My mom gave me this book to read and I read it outloud to my husband on a long roadtrip. He was completely changed by it as well. I think we both just kind of had an epiphany. I'll admit this might not be the best "training manual" to tell you exactly what to do to train your dog, but that is because it is a book that tries to explain how to treat your dog and why. The process can't be a bulleted list. Its not a list because its real life and requires real dedication and daily love. After reading this book, I realize that I don't have to raise my voice or use physical punishment like I've been told by "trainers." I have an English bulldog and I had an incredibly hard time training him despite the help of multiple "trainers." At the age of 4 and 5 he was still having accidents in the house despite using the methods they recommended. The truth is that yelling, screaming, hitting, shoving his nose in excrement and acting like a psycho is the wrong way to communicate. All the while he wasn't getting enough interaction, mental stimulation, and exercise...

Bevy McM: If you love your dog, you owe it to your pet as well as yourself to buy this book, use it, and then enjoy your friend much more than you thought possible. She incorporates positive behavior reinforcement, lots of praise, and smiling while you talk, as well as some non-confrontational ways to reduce bad behavior, like jumping. As with all training, consistency is really the key here. I am also a fan of Cesar Millan's "The Dog Whisperer," although some of his methods seem a bit harsh for the sweeter-tempered dogs. I do believe his approach (that you must be leader of the pack) is correct, because dogs are inherantly pack animals and need to be taught to respect their leader. I think a judicious combination of both would be a good bet.
