M. O'Neill: Yogurt would not firm up. I think it got too warm. Not sure. Tried it several time then gave up.

G. Monstre: I never made yogurt before acquiring this device. Turns out it tastes so much better making it at home, and I find the yogurt more filling than the ones bought at the stores. I had to figure out the right amount of time that works ideally for my yogurt making habits, but once I determined the right number of hours to set this device at, this product became a valued companion on my yogurt making journey. I often fill the jars right before bed and pop them in the frig in the morning. I really like the lids which allow to adjust the dates on the jar, so I know how long I have to safely enjoy my yogurt. The only thing I wish was different is the bottom of the inside of the jars has a little circular crease like area which is hard to wash the yogurt out of without using something like a toothpick to scrape it out. Otherwise, the jars are sold and have nice shapes.

marie ellen: It's true. I used the appliance 1-2 times per week since March 5, 2012. I noticed that the center of the incubation tray felt very hot to the touch! However, the yogurt results were always perfect for all 7 jars. I put to incubate a batch of yogurt last week. Came out yukky!! Did not thicken, tasted bad. I assumed it was my error and I had used bad starter. Tried it again with fresh starter. Concerned, I wiggled the appliance after 6 of 8 hours, and the yogurt was still liquid! That's when I noticed that there was no more heat. It heated at first, but by the 6 hour mark, the yogurt maker was no longer heating. I ruined two batches! Went to return it to Amazon; return period expired on April 5, 2012. Huh. Am looking at returning to manufacturer…. in the meantime I have ordered a different yogurt maker! I know there are lemons of everything--guess I got one.

Vero: Yogurt for all occasions!!!!
One appliance, 7 glass jars, 2 lids, and a LCD timer plus a user manuals with a few recipes inside. Just fill the jars according to your recipes, put the lid on and set the timer. I have already made a few yogurts, and I must say it takes a little bit to get to know the appliance. For example, the user manuals contains a few recipes, and the basic one mentions you have to leave the 7 yogurts jars in the machine for 8 hours to obtain plain yogurt. In my case, after 8 hours, the yogurts were absolutely not ready and had a lot of liquid on the top.
Never open the lid, and put the yogurt maker on a stable surface to avoid any vibrations. Worse, the amount of milk indicated in the recipe is not sufficient if you want to make 7 jars.
The result depends not only on the machine, but also on the quality of the ingredients you use. I think the Stonefield Farm plain yogurt works pretty well if you do not want to buy a starter. Thus, you can eat 6 yogurts and use the seventh jar to make other yogurts for next time, but such a process works only four times. I tried what the supermarkets call raw milk from the farm, but I think they have...

Kindlely: The pros:
- Machine makes homemade yogurt. Successfully. Without *too* much hassle. Seems well-made, with quality glass jars and simple LCD timer display.

The cons:
- Machine should not be jostled for the 8-15 hours it's making your yogurt, which can be hard to enforce if it's sitting on a kitchen counter in active use. Supposedly, you can blame flawed yogurt outcomes on jostling during the yogurt process.
- Glass jars are good quality, but the design, especially the upper inner rim, can be hard to clean. It's unlikely your diswasher can do it. Even by hand, immediately after use (so yogurt film hasn't hardened in the jar), the cleaning process is more laborious than it should be. Both upper and lower interior edging seems to "grip" the excess yogurt, and every part needs to be rubbed clean with a finger (dish brush won't do) before sanitizing in the dishwasher.

Worth knowing:
- If you don't want to spend too long making yogurt, forget about boiling and cooling milk to the precise temperature required. Just buy shelf-stabilized milk (i.e. Parmalat), which in the U.S. happens to be sold in the exact volume (one quart) that a 7-jar recipe...
