I’m not sure why there is a spring at the end of it but it still seems like it won’t break. The main concern is the fact that one the box the manufacturer has started it is a potential carcinogen. Not sure which part that refers to but makes it a bit concerning

Jalynn: I got this to help clean out tree limbs from a pond. It works great. So much easier than swimming out and trying to drag them back to the bank. Just a quick flip and pull and done. Product is well made and the rope is surprisingly strong for a cheap grappling hook. Well worth the expense.

Jim Williams: I have a 5 foot culvert that runs under my driveway. When the county put a larger culvert in up stream it opened up the flow and pushed all kinds of large tree limbs, old fence boards etc. after 20 years and fights with the township I had to do it my self. The grapple hook produce the best results. I hooked many things including 8 foot boards, branches etc. It worked so great I need another one.

taylor wilsontaylor wilson: Bought this after a disastrous afternoon that saw my small but mighty Yamaha outboard drowned in the marina. Water too turbid and weedy to see through, 20 feet too deep to dive effectively, and about 40 feet from the dock. This was the most economical choice on Amazon (can't seem to find a grappling hook in my local hardware stores). Long story short, it's like the thing had eyes. I was on it in two throws and hauled it up on the first try. It proceeded to gently place my outboard on the ground, flex its muscles, and then go hit on my wife. This grappling hook is the business, get one even if you don't need it.

Amazon Customer: This is the second one of these that I have bought. It is very hard to find grappling hooks that aren't over $100. I use this and will continue to use the new one on pulling Pennywise and other water evading plant species out of my pond. I can tell you that after about 6 hours of working it the first one broke. The hook part actually bent up towards the main shaft. After trying to pound it out to get it somewhat straight again and never fully recovered. After using it about 2 more hours after it the actual attachment where the threaded nut goes up into the shaft literally broke off so there was no way to repair it. This thing was actually hauling out about 10 lb of plant material perthro and it broke under pressure. As I stated I purchased the second one because it does the job but expect to buy a new one if you use this for any major work.

Erwin:
Being kind of dumb it took me like 20 minutes to figure out how to assemble it. It came with no instructions and I had to go back and look at the picture to see where the Spring goes. Then I found that the hooks were lose and after some brain work, I noticed I had installed one not correctly as it would not lock into the other one and just spin around. Once i got it assembled it was all tight.
It is heavy steel that should not bend easily Now the nylon rope is nice and long but I would not trust it with my life as it seems a bit elastic.
I was going to hook this on to trees and hook up the rope to a nearby tree so that when I cut the tree down, it can only fall in one direction. The only problem is that this only works for small trees. Now if a big tree has a big branch that I can hook onto, then it will work. It is still a good grappling hook and works like one should. For my real purpose I would like to see a grappling hook with like 18 inch long spikes
The shipping was super fast

This is a great grappling hook. 41/2 stars because one issue arose. When I was using it the threaded base that the hooks slide onto bent a little after being thrown for a while. I made one modification; I sawed part of the threaded shaft so it was shorter to make the grappling hook more compact and to increase its strength. I've had this hook for over a year now and it does a great job of getting onto roofs. With practice, and technique it takes getting used to climbing a wall with a rope, but if you wanted you could even make a rope ladder and use that with the hook. Anyway i havent had a slip yet and the rope it came with can hold me, and all my friends going up a building.
Also its a great price. Buy it right now you won't be disappointed with its performance

Greg Krauth: These had some negative reviews for being too weak, but we saw no signs of failing under very heavy stress.
