We specifically asked if this came with an Australian AC adapter and they said "yes".
It came with a USA plug. Frustrating

I had an optima 45 that was great, and replaced it... the new one was like a gun going off in the office. This little optima grip is great for quick stapling at a desk for 15-20 sheets and is super quiet! We just get out the big gun 45 when needed!
Fast Forward Oct 2021. This is now my 3rd Swingline that has the same issue approximately 24-36 months after use. Some part inside the device seems to be faulty related to the power supply (battery AND AC), I have to bang the device to make it work again. This is not a plug socket issue, but something else inside. I would still buy it again as I like it when it works, but hopefully, I will get more than 24 months.

This used to be a very good staple and a good value for the price. Things have changed.
If the product description says "flat clinch", it is wrong. I bough this same model (Optima 45), last year and that is still a good stapler. The flat clinch IS the feature that i bought the stapler for. We had a large staple project, so I figured I would buy another Optima 45. When it came in, I quickly opened and set it up for our project. My first clue that this was different was that the power cord it attached into the stapler. My original Optima 45 has an AC adapter. The motor on this new one is 4 to 5 times louder than my original Optima.
I really suspected that this was an imposter. I immediately packaged it back up and returned it to Amazon.
I then bought another one, hoping that this was just a mistake. Nope! The next one was identical to this bad Optima 45. I returned it as well.
The things I liked about the Optima 45:
1) Flat clinch - Gone. You don't get this any longer with the new version. Swingline didn't think it was a good option
2) Uses standard strip staples - the new versions still uses this
3) Quiet motor -...

Marta B: I work as a pharmacist and have to staple several hundreds prescription labels to bags. This little stapler has been one of the best things I've invested in. After using a manual stapler for many years, I could feel it taking a toll on my hand. I figured I would get this and even if it last only a few months it will still be better than having to manually staple everything. Stapler works great and it is small and compact. It came with a power adapter, however, the cable on that broke in a few months because we move the stapler back and forth, which created too much pressure on the cord. However, this little thing can be operated with 4 AA batteries, so that's how we've been running it, and that allows us to take it anywhere. The other nice thing on this is it has an auto and manual stapling feature. On auto it would staple automatically if you place paper under it, and on manual you gently touch the top and it staples for you. The auto feature broke after a few months, a spring fell out. The manual feature continues to work. You can use regular staples with it, the only time it seems to jam is when it's down to the last few staples. We've been using this stapler...

This type of stapler I have used in a busy tax office with several pages to staple, I have recently purchased for my officev where I am now.
Have had it so far over a month and with the Optima staples I still have yet to experience a staple jam. I can even staple more than twenty pages but the back side of the staples can't obviously finish folding with more than the recommended pages. But if I have 22 pages, I am going to try to get them all in one bunch.
I am looking now into the larger capacity for those thicker bunches, but for small 2-10 pages, it works like a dream saving my wrist from repeated clinching of a manual stapler. Works over and over no problems. It is also not very loud, and keeps you working quickly and efficiently.
Battery usage is great too. Requires 6 AA batteries and still strong like it's plugged into power. Many times I have to take it with me to the copier and it works just as good away from power. Not to mention it is so sleek. I thought this one had the "cylon" type blink to let you know it's out of staples but I think that is the other model. I accidentally ordered this one but have been very happy with it.

California Freddy: I chose Swingline Optima 20, Model 48208, jam-free, because my first one (Model 45) ran perfectly for many years. The replacement was designed to staple up to 20 sheets, Good enough for a small office. Built-in way to make sure you don't try to staple more than the 20 sheets. Nice. Heavy enough to grab my desk and not slide somewhere. It holds a full sized staple stack, no chopping to get it smaller than standard. Some say it's too noisy. Humbug, it sounds about right. Nice always on orange light to blink when I will soon need a staple stack replacement. Built-in storage drawer for more staples. Easy adjustment to choose the staple location from the page edge. Forget installing batteries, plug into 110 and let it just sit there on your desk. Even has a built-in staple remover in a back little drawer. My only gripe is that when you need staples inserted, you push a button on the back of the stapler. The stapler holder, supposed to slide forward in the front, won't move, because it's so new. Friction. Grabbed a pliers, and pulled the slider drawer forward. WD 40 on the side of the staple tray holder should fix this. Every office needs one of these wonderful...
