Steve K.: This herb is being used in experimental trials to help ward off bladder infections. Since I am plagued with bladder problems, I thought I would give it a try. Supposedly, it makes the walls of the bladder hostile to implanting bacteria. (Kind of like the cranberry juice therapy). I have only been on it for two months, but so far, no problems.

Curtis: I wanted to post this comment in response to some of the negative ones: I was previously making hibiscus tea to deal with moderately high blood pressure. Over the course of several months I grew tired of making the tea and its taste, so the last 6 months I have used these capsules instead. I started using hibiscus as an alternative to BP medication, which was making me tired and depressed. I've tracked my BP over the last several years, and the tea and the capsules both bring my pressure down 5-10 points (without the side effects of normal BP meds), which puts me in the 'acceptable' range. It's not guaranteed to work for everyone, and like most natural remedies, there usually won't be a DRAMATIC effect, but coupled with other BP lowering strategies (such as a low sodium diet, exercise, etc), it can be part of an overall successful plan to lower pressure and have an alternative to BP meds.
