WillowHawk: The product is fairly effective, but doesn't always work to correct pets behavior. I've tested this on myself, as I'm not willing to use anything shock related on my pets, without testing it on myself, first. It sends a noticable jolt, but doesn't reliably trigger. Maybe it's the distance between metal contacts, but it does work most of the time, and therefore earns four stars. It has a long service life, more than a year, with regular wear and tear. It has needed only one battery replacement, with daily use on the kitchen counters, to protect the food from nocturnal scavengers. ;)

buckmolly: Oh man, is this what I have wanted!!! kitties have a beautiful outside run, but are escape artists when I go out to my little balcony,,,,set it up, and my "regular" type kitty, only took once!!! The Siamese seemed a bit denser, took three times but they now won't go near the door....Super product, super instructions, LOVE the "beep and blast" feature,,,told me when the little culprits were on an escaping mission. Trained them by leaving the door open a crack,,,,,

ACWN:
Update: Less than 3 months in and these pads no longer work. After constantly changing batteries every 3 - 5 days, our cats no longer give a crud about these things - even when standing directly on the wires with multiple feet. The "constant contact" warning goes off and they just stare at the pad, unphased. The pads are also coming apart, the black strips are peeling off.
Original: ...if you're aiming to use this on smaller pets, be aware that the wire gap is large enough for small paws to step between. There's about a US quarter sized space.
Also the black strips negate the shock if theyre standing on it. I put my hand on the wires and middle strip, and only got a light buzzing sensation rather than the sharp zing I was expecting. It's annoying that they have it in the middle like they do.
Lastly, the alarm beep is LOUD. Loud enough to hear through closed doors when on level 5.
That having been said, it does work for keeping our cats off parts of our bed when we aren't there.

G. LovettG. Lovett: These pads work well. I adopted a good-natured cat, but as a former stray, he has behavior issues tied to anxiety about food, so he is constantly jumping on the kitchen counters looking for food, even when he has just eaten. He will even do it while I am at the counter preparing his food--he simply can't control it. I bought two of these pads to retrain him to stay off the countertops, and it has worked very well. The pads will do both a beep and a mild electric shock, with five levels of both volume and electric current. You can also set it to just a beep, just electric current, or both, depending on your needs. The battery life/usage (one 9-volt) is good--after 3 weeks, I'm still using the first battery that I installed; the unit blinks every 3-4 seconds when it is on, using very little power until the cat lands on it. The strength of the current isn't excessive; at level 2, it is approximately the same as putting your tongue on a 9-volt battery to check it, and I have never used it beyond level 3 because these settings were enough to do the job. It only took 2-3 times of the cat jumping on it to make him extremely wary of it, and he won't jump on the counter...

kristy: Used to keep my dogs off the new couch. Works amazing most of the time. Sometimes it fails to send a shock right away. Have you ever stuck your tongue to a 9 volt battery?? It feels like that but stronger. Strong enough that you don't want it to happen again. Would like it to be heavier/weighted/rubber backed so that it doesn't slide around so easily. I would deff buy again.

AllanAllan: This cat won't go near it. She got shocked and jumped at least 3ft high. Well made mat.

Karin r.: We were at our wits end our cats would not stop peeing at the bottom of the stairs we tried everything and nothing worked until I purchased this product. This saved our sanity the cats no longer pee outside of the litter box. I would strongly recommend.

Sylvia H.:
Well, we have a most stubborn kitten that would NOT stop jumping on the counters. He has the rest of the house to play in and a ton of toys but is very food driven and just won't stop getting on the counter! So we tried water spray, sticky tape, spike mats, cat repellent sprays (2 types), ultrasonic devices, pushing him off, etc. NOTHING worked.
THIS WORKED SO FAR! Yay. It's been a couple of weeks and he is now pretty much staying off the counter when the mat is on there. We have to leave it on and it's on the 2nd setting right now. It's a pain to deal with because we had to cover the whole counter so trying to use the kitchen and the sink is not an easy task but hopefully he will eventually get the message and just stop. He is the most stubborn cat I've ever been around and even the spike mats he just jumped on and endured the uncomfortable feeling on his feet. He is a 6 month old kitten that is large and heavy. We got two mats and double sided the ends together so they would stay on the counter. There are rubber dividers that we put double stick tape on as well to hold it in place. Otherwise, he just jumped up there, endured the pain and pushed it off...

BB: I have struggled with training my dog to stay off furniture when home alone, these work wonders. The low setting she disregarded and laid on anyway but once I cranked up the level she won’t go near it. When I leave these are on couches and counters and she leaves them untouched
