manhaven: Product came in a good carton has good weight to it and is expected to perform as advertised. The seals look good as well as the connectors will hold up over time.

Savvymomof5: Our 2010 York HVaC (2 units) kept tripping the breaker. Went through the checklist of possibilities. Replaced the breaker at box.
Had our hvac co out. He tested everything on both units and said the hard start was blown. Replaced it with this exact product. 45min Total for them to come out, troubleshoot and replace/install this $385. This is actually a pretty good deal compared to many posts on this install!?! Definitely do your homework if you’re going 100% diy…there are a lot of things to consider you might overlook that pros know. But as far as buying a quality product that supports your $8000-$15000 HVAC. I highly recommend this.
Unfortunately ours tripped the breaker again the next day so this wasn’t the only issue. I Ordered this for the other/main unit which is on the same breaker and didn’t have a hard start. Took my husband 20 minutes to install. For a $15-$20 part that will safeguard from surges I’m adding this to our normal maintenance list for the house. Checking it at least annually and/or replacing every few years.

Deeper Problem for ours ended up being melted/burnt terminals at compressor which my husband found...

Quantis: Installed in our GE ARC13AACBL1 air conditioner on a 2022 Keystone Bullet crossfire. Before the install our Honda 2200i generator would be 50/50 if it overloaded and shut off or started the AC, even with the ECO switch turned off.
After installing the capacitor the air conditioner now starts reliably with the generator on ECO mode. I couldn't be happier.
Install was easy, 4 screws to remove the plastic cover, then another 2 screws to open the electrical junction box. From there I just plugged the capacitor in, stuffed the electrical box cover back on and screwed everything back together.

Thomas: Works well for giving home air conditioners life again

OhYes: very easy to install, one wire goes into the capacitor common slot, another goes into the herm slot then just clip the device right next to the capacitor. I also noticed the capacitor started smoother (less noise) as well.

Cal Carter: My newer A/C unit at the lake was failing to start up properly almost since it was installed 2 years ago. Rather than pay a plumber to come out a 3rd time, I installed the hard start kit and it has been perfect ever since. It starts more quietly and runs well. I just installed a second one on my 10 year old home A/C and it starts quietly and runs well.

Donna Kormos: Seldom that I am this impressed.
Running my dometic air conditioner with our Westinghouse 4500 watt generator caused the circuit breaker to kick out. After installing this capacitor I hardly notice the compressor kicking in and out on the air conditioner and it only uses 25% of the capacity of the generator / inverter. Another point to mention is that the air conditioner runs a lot quieter without that hammer every time the compressor kicked in whether it's on ground power or the inverter.
It was also very simple to install.

ML1447: First the background information: I couldn't get my 13.5 btu AC unit on my 5th wheel trailer to start/run while using my brand new 3300 watt generator. Within 1-5 seconds of starting the AC unit, the generator's overload would trip and shut down the AC unit, or the AC circuit breaker would trip. Either way I couldn't run my AC while using generator power. I even tried other people's generators (of greater power) to no avail. The RV service center said I needed a new AC unit to the tune of $1200, plus installation. Others tried to sell me bigger and more expensive generators.

I ordered this hard start capacitor from amazon for around $12. It took less than 2 minutes to install. It actually took longer for me to climb up on the roof of my 5th wheel and take off the AC cover than it took to install the hard start capacitor. I started my generator and turned on the AC unit. The AC immediately started and continued to run for about a half hour before I manually turned it off. By the way, the outside temperature was around 95 degrees F at the time of this test and the inside temp was well over 100 degrees F.

Two weeks later we took the 5th wheel on a week...

StressFreeLivingStressFreeLiving: The most arduous part of the process to install this product was trying to make sure that it was compatible with our air conditioner. The instructions on the packaging and the response from the seller we're not very helpful at all. Single phase air conditioner? What is that? Operating volts? We didnt know that there were different kind of volts?

However we called Supco and spoke to their technical support and were finally able to determine that this was quite likely compatible with our air conditioner.

The technical specification label on our AC was very cryptic, to the unitiated, us, however the information is apparently there, as you can see in the picture we uploaded. The number 1 in a square box with the letters PH next to the number 1 apparently mean "single phase" and apparently "volts 208/230" refer to operating volts. Now we are not saying this is 100% correct as we could possibly have been misinformed.

However these are conclusions we arrived at when speaking with the Supco technical support department.

In addition we were told by Supco technical support that this item is their #1 selling item/hard start kit and is compatible...
