Amazon Customer: First, check your pan with a magnet to ensure you are using the right pan. If the magnet sticks, you are set to go!! The first pan I used... I did not check and I could hear some popping noise. I switched pans ASAP and went back to cooking and all went perfect! I used for Christmas dinner as I have a large family and only four burners on my cooktop. It was great to have and the cooktop performed exceptionally well!

JasonJason: A truly excellent cooktop for the home cook suitable for light commercial use. The finish is immaculate, stylish, and it cleans up easy. Buttons are perfectly responsive and simple to operate. Put the pan on the unit, press "on", then press menu to select power or temperature mode (don't use temperature mode). It turns on at 1000 W automatically, adjust from there. Simple.
It is very powerful, sturdy, quiet(ish), and allows for precise food temperature control. Unlike any other portable induction cooktop (PIC) in this range, it offers *constant* power for each of the 18 power setting (100-1800W). That is, if you set it to 200 watts, it produces 200 W constantly. I measured this with my wall power meter so I can validate this claim from the Sunmaki.
Most other cooktops will cycle the power on and off even in power mode. For example, a similar priced Duxtop PIC will power the induction coil at ~700 W for 4 seconds on and 10 seconds off to "average" 200 W. I've measured this with my wall power meter. This works OK, and the Duxtop models are better than most other budget PICs, with shorter on periods. But sometimes this can lead to scorching of delicate foods while it...
