Jenni: I actually love this heater, but mine came with a non working remote. I contacted the company and they wanted a specific code that they said was in the packaging but it simply wasn’t there. I kept it, but I wish I had a working remote.

HSheff: We want to redo our family room fireplace but just don't want to spend the money on a gas insert right now. This was a great alternative ( and a ton cheaper). It puts out more heat than I expected which is fantastic. It's very pretty and the lights are very realistic. Two family members may be getting one after seeing ours. The remote makes it very easy to use. The shut off on the side of the unit makes it nice for me to turn off so the kids can't turn it on with the remote if we aren't with them. It's a great safety feature for parents of little ones. It doesn't get hot and the it does have an auto shut off. I just like having the option that they can't play with it if we aren't right there.

GeorginaGeorgina: The media could not be loaded.  I bought this a couple of weeks ago and it does not disappoint. I had a number of brand options but I decided on this one because of the reviews and also the pics and videos the reviews provided. It seemed as close to realistic as you can get without paying the high price tag. I really am impressed. It’s lightweight and easy to use. Take it out of the box and just place it in your fireplace, plug it in and turn it on. That’s it! It does exactly what I need it to do and that is provide a fireplace ambiance. I was using candles in my fireplace but for the holiday season I wanted just that little bit of fire in the hearth feeling. I really love it. The heating setting, I have only used once and I would say it provides some warmth but only in a small area. If you are standing next to it you can feel the fan push warm air out. Honestly I just bought it for the effect of a having a fire in the hearth! Time will tell wether it lasts but from the reviews some people have had theirs for 2 years so I think the price and the product is definitely worth it. Note the electrical cord is about 4ft so not that long if your outlet is not close by.

Juanita DaytonJuanita Dayton: Works well and looks very nice, my fireplace is not usable, so this was a nice add. would have cost thousands to take out all the rock of my fireplace and then refinish the wall and the ceiling. the only this I found odd was the remote ha-ha I know they are now just these cheap little things but, here's the thing my TV remote will turn the electric logs on as well as the heat all I do is use the up arrow and ta-da the fireplace is on, but it will not turn it off. I am never at home when I do these reviews or I would have a picture, will try and add one later.

zayloghry: The media could not be loaded.  Update: This raises the temperature of my (small) livingroom 3 degrees in a hour, 5 in about 2 hours and 7 if it's on most of the day. It does seem to be quite a bit cheaper to run than my baseboard heaters too, which is a huge bonus. Ive had it 2 months now and i love it!

To be fair it hasn't gotten cold enough to rely on this only for heat but from what I can tell it puts off quite a bit! I have a fake fireplace in my apt and this is perfect for a cozy atmosphere. The flames reflect off the cinder block beautifully. I can't wait for a cold snowy night to sit in front of this. And I don't say that often!

failed poet: We couldbt use our ventless gas log because we hates the burnt air odor. We are sensitive to that. We went to a store that specializes in fireplace inserts and they were talking about pricey conversions, including rebuilding the whole fpl for outside venting. When we looked at the electric fpls they were estimating a lot for the work. I saw this inexpensive unit on Amazon, then called a plumber to cap off the gas. The total bill from the plumber was about $200. I went further and had an outlet installed in the fpl and that was $325 more, but with baskets set on the sides of the fpl, we really had the cord concealed so I am not sure how many others would add that expense. Is an electric fire ideal? Well, for us, yes, because we can't use the gas log. Does it look real? No. Does a gas log look like a real fire? No. You get used to it. This unit makes a crackling sound which is very real though. Gas will not. We put it on almost every night. You see it out of the corner of your eye and after awhile, with the crackling, you might prefer it to gas. Don't expect it to heat much. We have high ceilings and we don't bother with the heat element. No point. Maybe if your room is small it...

NadineNadine: The media could not be loaded.  I just love this little log heater set. It fits perfectly inside my existing wood fireplace (which I haven't had a real fire in in about 10 years or so!) No, it doesn't look real, but I don't care, the ambience and heat it gives off just makes the whole room feel cozy. One reviewer said you had to get a backdrop/background or something so you can see the flames. Well, look at my video and you'll see it looks great without that (the white spot in the back is the back of the fireplace where apparently soot has never rested). I have used it almost every chilly morning and at night when we don't need the heat I just turn the flames on. It just feels so cozy and homey. The remote works great and I have no complaints. Plus there was a $20 off coupon when I decided to buy, which made the decision between this one and another one easy. No problems at all so far (I've had it about a month now) I highly recommend!
