Larry: The picture may suggest that you can install it up higher on the tree, but the big warning sign in the box says "only on ground level". Otherwise, it looks pretty solid. We never tried it out.

Shawn D.: Nice seat but far to big to carry around with you. Wasn't going work for what I wanted

LucasLucas: After reading all the reviews about the cheap strap, I invested in a solid one. Used stump 3x and popped two welds on the frame. Absolute junk material. You can tell it is very cheaply made by the light hollowness of the material. If you weigh around 200lbs Or over please save yourself the $50 and find something else. Very disappointed with this product.

AM: I bought this tree seat for deer and squirrel hunting as I like to still hunt and there's not always a fallen log or large rock handy to sit on and give my legs and back a break. I've owned a Summit climbing tree stand for many years and have always been more than satisfied with the quality and performance of it so when I saw this seat was made by Summit I decided to give it a try. It arrived fully assembled and ready to use. I checked the tightness of the bolts as suggested by the instructions and found them to be tightened properly. The only thing to that needed to be done was to use the loop in the mounting strap to secure one end of the strap to the seat, which was very easy to do. I read a few reviews for this product that stated that the supplied mounting strap did not work properly but I've used it on quite a few trees, of different diameters, and never had any problems with it. The strap easily and quickly secured the seat, held firm on every tree I used it on and it had no problem supporting my 212 pounds. I also used the seat using a ratchet strap setup to see if there was any advantage. The ratchet strap and the supplied strap both attached the seat to the tree firmly,...

Fangorn930: I've only used this for one season, but it was exactly what I was looking for. I'm a ground level hunter and I've sat on a pad with my back against a tree for decades. But, age is starting to make it difficult to sit on just a pad on the ground and I was looking for something that would get my 2xl frame up a few inches and let me turn to look around or aim.
This seat does exactly that. I could strap it to a tree just above the root base and sit with my knees up or legs crossed. I found the strap sufficient for my (sadly) 300lb German-stock frame and synching the seat into the tree at ground level isn't a safety requirement. And, note that the manufacturer warns against using the seat for any purpose other than ground level seating.
Notes:
* the netting lets the chill air through so the seat is cold. I put my trusty old pad and put it on top of the seat to stop the air flow. Worked perfectly.
* it adds 10lbs to your pack. Worth it for me.
* I found a way to fasten it to the back of my pack to avoid having to juggle it and a gun if walking through brush or low limbs. And, you need to fasten down the hook as it will clang against the metal when walking in.

Mike S.Mike S.: I'm giving it 5 stars because I believe this is a great product. I give the strap included 3 stars as it's simply not the correct strap for this application. You 100% need a ratchet straps to appreciate this seat. And I and my back truly appreciate it!
I have back issues, bulging discs and spinal stenosis so I simply can't stand still without either fidgeting like a meth head or crouching down constantly, to get feeling back in my legs.
Usually I find a downed tree, rock or some other natural seat. They work but are never perfect height or comfortable at all, absolutely never warm or dry. I've just put up with it until this season.
I was searching for a lightweight chair or something to start using when I found the Stump by Summit. Looked cool, price was decent so I gave it a go.
Luckily I read reviews and saw the need for a ratchet strap, I tried it in the yard with the included one and immediately threw it in the back of my truck for another use... Not for hanging my body weight. Tried a ratchet straps and it was perfect.
There is no included carry strap but I figured out if I wrap the strap around the seat and under the straps on my backpack...

Jonathan Byers: Great addition to my hunting collection! No more hard rocks, wet logs or Pete moss for me! No more cockeyed lawn chairs either! Must have!

Jason E. Doucette: It's not the lightest seat to lug around but it is doable. The included strap despite what other reviews say works fine. The secret is to reverse the latching/ratchet piece so when it tries to pull from the tress the latch cinches. As it comes it is in a reverse setup and so will just pull out when tension is applied to the strap.
Could use some quieting material so you don't have metal clanky noise with the hook on the strap but that's easily fixed.
