Unknown: This will be my colored pencil paper from now on. But I will be buying it elsewhere. Blick and Michael's sell it at a lower price. I overpaid here.

TC: The paper is fine, but I prefer smooth paper for colored pencils. This paper shows a lot of tooth within your drawing, and that’s not ideal for me for blending and more realistic drawings.

Malachi: This paper is SUCH high quality. This comes as no surprise as I have been quite impressed in the past with a lot of other Strathmore paper pads. This product is perfect for coloured pencil drawings as described. There is enough texture, also known as ‘tooth’, for multiple pigment layers to be applied to the paper. This allows for you to build upon your artwork and create depth and shadow. This is particularly important when creating realistic artworks. I find that with this tooth you can create an incredibly realistic skin surface that resembles its transparent nature. In saying this, there is not too much tooth that the finished product ends up looking grainy and coarse.

The use of colourless blenders and white pencils in particular can help in making the finished artwork even smoother as these tools spread out the coloured pencil more evenly on the page.

Whilst the pad is spiral bound there is a small perforated margin which allows you to neatly tear the paper away. Hence, you can work on your art either inside or outside of the pad.

LyssaLyssa: As any artist should, it’s hard to find a paper that’s worth drawing upon due to thickness, texture and ease of movement. Not to mention how well your pencil marks erase! I bought this one from Micheal’s a few years ago and I’m absolutely addicted. The texture and thickness is amazing, my pencil glides along the page, and it’s easy to erase if need be. It’s easy to blend and fill, too! My Fabricastle pens I use to define my lines before I color in don’t bleed through and the pads as a whole travel really well. They offer a steady surface, don’t curl or flex easily and overall an excellent product. I swear by them now!
